I was able to figure out the answer and unlock the pillar but I was unsure of my answers in the pirate bingo and don't think I got the correct answer for the pirate bingo (at least the second word I am stumped on).  I am not sure on questions 9 and 10 in pirate bingo.  Good luck to everyone!

maybe I need to spend some time away from the puzzle... I found all of the correct answers except for the one on the pillar.  I was googling Charles Shotwell and found this forum... any hints would be greatly appreciated.
