Sometime soon, probably next week against the Kansas City Chiefs, LaDanian Tomlinson will break yet another record, Paul Hornung's season scoring record of 176 pointswill fall away. It has stood firm since 1960, but LT will smash right through it, the way he smashes through his opponents.  A versatile player, he is also 2 for 3 in passing this year (both of which resulted in touchdowns), 7 for 10 in his career (6 total touchdowns, 0 interceptions).  He has lit a fire in the San Diego Chargers, making them THE team to watch this year. 

Today, he broke Shaun Alexander's single season touchdown record of 28, by scoring three times against Denver.  And we still have three weeks to go.  A versatile player, LaDanian can score by running, receiving and passing.  This was the seventh straight time he has had multi-touchdown games.  I envy anyone who had the foresight to include him in their Fantasy Football League!  Of course, with his career stats, I suppose that was pretty much a no-brainer!

In any case, I have a feeling the only player who will come close to breaking his records in the near future is...LaDanian Tomlinson himself!

Couldn't happen to a nicer or more humble man in my opinion. Good for you Ladanian. I felt the same when Shawn Alexander broke the record last year, another class act.  This year is Ladanian's year and with 3 games left to go he just may obliterate this record, so my prediction for the next person to break this record is....my favorite USC alumnus, Reggie Bush somewhere down the line. Wonder what the Texans are thinking now? First they pass on Reggie, then Vince Young who just won 4 in a row in come from behind victories! Rookie of the year is gonna be tough to pick; now throw in Maurice Jones Drew to the mix (always thought he should have gone higher in the draft - great story behind this kid).

 Also, kudos to Drew Brees and the Saints for the whoopin they put on the Cowboys - woo hoo!  There's still life in them there Eagles!  Hey SCOUT - your Bears might wanna watch out for these Saints come playoff time; they just clinched their division WITH injuries in their wide receiver corps - plus they'll get Hollis Thomas back in time for playoffs.  

A side note to Hollis: Hollis played on the Eagles for many many years, a fan favorite as a defensive tackle, great guy with a great sense of humor - we all knew he had asthma, never a problem. He moved to a location where the wheather changed drastically from what he was used to - I would ask that he not be judged too harshly on these "steroid" charges. Sources have proved that the particular steroid he changed to can change itself in the body and show itself as a steroid not permitted in the NFL. Hollis is very much missed in Philly, glad he's having such a good season with the Saints, of course doesn't everyone succeed when the Eagles drop them?Look at Derrick Burgess in Oakland, dropped from the Eagles last year and he went to the pro bowl. With the Eagles still in the run for the wild card, the losses to our defense have left holes that mack truck could drive through!  Tiki should have a field day next week.

You got that right, Mar!  I had a wonderful 7th grade science teacher, Mr. Tucker, who recognized that it was important for girls to know about football, too.  He took over our gym class for a couple of days and taught us the basics.  The way he explained it was this:  "You are going to hang out with boys, date boys and eventually, marry one of them.  Football is important to them, so you should know what they are talking about.  And you might just find you like the game, too."  He taught us the positions, showed us plays (he was a football coach, too, of course!) and made the whole thing fun.  Some of the girls dismissed the idea, but I embraced it.  I was already a baseball fan, so this was just something more.  My cousins were all guys and one of them played for the HS team, so the Friday after we learned about football, I went to my first game.  I've been a tremendous fan ever since!!
