Looking for a specific kind of book

Those of you that know me on any level, will find that I am a strategist. I am looking for books that are all about battles, go into detail about the battle plans, etc. I haven't been able to find a book like that yet, no one wants to read those, so Libraries don't carry them, any suggestions will be appreciated.

"There are two things never to be lost sight of by a military commander. Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible; and when you strike and overcome him, never give up the pursuit as long as your men have strength to follow; for an army routed, if hotly pursued, becomes panic-stricken, and can then be destroyed by half their number. The other rule is, never fight against heavy odds, if by any possible maneuvering you can hurl your own force on only a part, and that the weakest part, of your enemy and crush it. Such tactics will win every time, and a small army may thus destroy a large one in detail, and repeated victory will make it invincible." - Stonewall Jackson

That is interesting! I would like to know of books like that too! I've read a little of R.L. Dabney's book about Jackson, so far I think you would like it. Also The Prairie Traveler by Capt. Randolph Marcy, talks a little about strategies of Indian fighting, etc.

Hmmmmmm...that is a tough one. I have a particular book in mind, but I can't remember the name of it, or the basic story, since I read it a long time ago.

Funny you should mention Dabney and his book, I'm reading that now! Smile

    Interesting, realitively dry.

Yes, but don't let that keep you from reading it! From what I have read, it's worth reading, just don't be expecting it to have you on the edge of your seat or anything.

LOL! That's about what I would say, good information, and pretty interesting, but a little slow...
