    2nd Ammendment

    Hey Y'all,

I know the purpose of this forum isn't political, however I thought it might spark some interesting discussion to see what y'all think on the 2nd Ammendment "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.". What is your view on this. Do you believe the Federal Government has the right to take away your weapons? Should there be any "gun controll" period? Please give me your opinion.

My humble opinion, is that there should be practically no "gun controll" laws. Laws commisioned by bleeding heart liberals to make them feel better actually make the problem worse. It is the responsibility of the citizen to own a weapon, and to defend himself, and his family. Another reason the 2nd ammendmend was created, is largely overlooked, even though it was the main reason the Ammendment was created, the protection of the People, form the government. In the Revolutionary War, the colonists had practically the same firepower as the redcoat soldiers. That is why they were successful against the tyrannical government. Now, if the government decided to exercise its power over the citizen, we would be almost powerless. We have incredibly less firepower than the government, thanks to "Gun Controll" laws. We must remove these Un-Constitutional laws, in order mto maintain our freedom. Another thing many times over looked is the right of a militia, wich is now denied many times. The military is to protect us from out side invaders, the militia, form our military/government.

    That is my humble opinion.

So, are you asking if I should be able to own an AH-64 Apache helicopter with Hellfire missiles? Or how about a Enterprise Class carrier with an air squadron?

Hey Joe! It's fine with me, as long as you let me meet your uncle Billy Gates :D. Serioussly, the only people rich enough to own an apache helicopter, and with enough clout to purchase one, are going to get one either way. I'm talking about the right to own a weapon, with out registering it under Big Brother's tally systemn to keep track of its citizens and making sure they are being "good".

"Shall not be infringed" doesn't sound like "reasonable limitations" to me.

I'm not saying you should purchase one, I'm saying the government shouldn't stop you form getting arms that are neccessary for your defence.

My brother is a member of the NRA.
I have spent a large part of my life listening to his strong views on gun control laws.
    My parents agree with him.
The Constitution clearly agrees with him (or is it the other way around?:))
I am all for upholding our constitutional rights!

I hate it when people say that guns are bad...

What happens if we need to protect ourselves against an evil person who wishes to harm us, or against a wild animal like a bear? Are we just supposed to sit down and give up? We certainly have the right to bear arms for our own good.

I think that a lot of people do think, that you should just give up. But I agree, we need to defend our Constitutional rights.

Even I had a gun I would still never anyone! Even if they were threatening to kill me.

The aircraft carrier was just a joke... I couldn't afford the gas for it anyway :-)

I am however completely supportive of armed - and educated - citizens!
In fact, one of my friends has recently been getting quite a bit of publicity about openly carrying firearms around town on a personal crusade to educate the public about it ;-)
