I could be talking about Tony Romo, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys who hails from nearby Burlington, Wisconsin. But, actually I'm talking about Chip Hale. He played for the Kenosha Twins, a Minnesota Twins farm team here in the 1980s, and is remembered for hitting what was probably the most home runs in the team's history, especially for the one blasted through the fog at Simmons Field to clinch the Midwest League Championship in 1987.
Hale was named the 2006 Triple-A Pacific Coast League Manager of the year, and it has just been announced that he has been tabbed as the third base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Last year, his Sidewinders won the Triple-A Championship with a league-leading record of 91-53.
Congratulations, Chip! Kenosha is very proud of you!
