    Chuck Baldwin is Lincoln

Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party presidential candidate, said, "I'm the Abraham Lincoln of this generation."

I read this yesterday and nearly laughed myself unconscious.

Proves Wesley's overused argument, "Nobody's perfect." Being like Lincoln in some ways would exclude a man from consideration, in other ways being like Lincoln would argue for the man's election. Depends on what Baldwin meant. (See, I can be objective about the tyrant Lincoln.)

To avoid the confusion of those who may not follow the link immediatly (like myself), here is what he said:

"...he points out that Abraham Lincoln won the presidency when the Republican Party was 'a minor third party.'

'I would like to think it's gonna be 2008, and I would like to think that I'm the Abraham Lincoln of this generation.' "

Sheds some light on what ole Chuch meant. Thanks.

Wink  I assume that Joe was just looking for a reaction with the way that he wrote the post. Otherwise, it really is misleading...

    Re: Chuck Baldwin is Lincoln

Let us say you have several resumes that come across the desk and you have to pick only one.  I currently work at a national laboratory.  The resumes that come across the desk are very impressive.  Yet it almost always comes down to the individual who has experience (maybe little) in the field in which you are hiring him or her.  Let us put aside views for a moment.

You have one ticket that contains two senators of the United States, one who has been a senator since 1972.

You have a second ticket that contains an individual who was in the US military, elected to the US House of Reps, and later to the Senate.  The other individual on the ticket has been a mayor as is currently a governor.

Then you have a third ticket that contains a baptist pastor and an attorney.

Just on that information, which ticket would you scratch out (maybe unfairly, but realistically)

Just on that information? Obviously Chuck Baldwin!

BUT, I beleive that a man's heart is more important to God (and therefore should also be to us), than his political credentials.

Man, this still makes me laugh. Chuck Baldwin says that Lincoln is the worst president we've had. He says that he was a disaster. And then he says that he wants to be like Lincoln and upset the two party system. That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

Well if you want to talk worst presidents... From what I understand, the three presidents leading up to Lincoln (Fillmore, Pierce, & Buchanan) were extremely weak presidencies and just allowed the problems between the states to fester so Lincoln basically inherited a time bomb just waiting to explode.

Oh well, it makes perfect sense to me now. You don't have to do everything like Lincoln in order to destroy the two parties...
