Good evening from the Sportsman's Paradise of Louisiana!
I wanted to give you the so-called 'solutions' to triangles 5-9 so you can see how my mind is working and why I'm thinking there might be something left to do.
5. The clues for triangle 5 are found with the ticking mechanism from Chapter 1. The solution to the puzzle is a construct containing 9 separate triangles. Each triangle contains a single silver tip and a differing number of those asymmetric dots along the sides. The clue for this puzzle in the Explorer's Journal is 'Seek the pattern to align'. You simply align each of the triangles such that the silver tip is in the 'up' position and count the number of dots along each side of each triangle.
Moving the left lever into the 'up' position shows the symbol for '5' in the window.
The symbol shows two 'up' triangles, one within the other.
Triangle 5: Left side = 3. Right side = 4. Bottom = 7.
6. The clue for triangle 6 is within the emblem itself. Its emblem is the 'bow'. Draw a circle and draw a triangle within it.
See the bow?
Do you remember the puzzle that has the triangle within the circle?
It's the Simple Simon puzzle--the first puzzle from chapter 1. It's the reason the numerical value of the circle only ranged to 6. Simply point the triangle to the '6' symbol and add the total on each side of the triangle.
Triangle 6: Left side = 18. Right side = 7. Bottom = 6.
7. The deconstruction of symbol 7 is not an intrinsic part of this puzzle. It's an Easter egg/homage sort of clue. The symbol for '7' is from the movie 'Stargate'. It was the mysterious 'seventh symbol' that Daniel had to discover to activate the Stargate to return home. Naturally, it was representing a pyramid. LOL.
The symbol for 7 simply marks the location to discover the clues. It is found in the 'thrice and a score' puzzle. Simply collect the value of each triangle on the sides of the '7' triangle.
Triangle 7: Left side = 3. Right side = 8. Bottom = 9.
8. The clues for triangle 8 are found within the Explorer's Journal. The symbol for '8' is a triangle and a circle. Inside the journal on two different pages are an odd clue consisting of a triangle, circle, and square. The circle and triangle represent the deconstructed symbol for 8--the square isn't any old square.
The square is a direct association to the combination lock puzzle of chapter 2.
Compare the square inside the Explorer's Journal to the fourth column of the combination lock puzzle.
We simply count the little triangles in column 4. The arrows pointing to the top left designate 'right'. The arrows pointing to the bottom right designate 'left', and the arrows pointing to the top right designate 'bottom'.
Triangle 8: Left side = 1. Right side = 5. Bottom = 3.
9. As discussed before, the clues for triangle 9 are found on the sliding emblem rock in chapter 1--the second puzzle. 'Thou hast solved sum of 9'. Simply add the total of symbols on each of the three sides.
Triangle 9: Left side = 10. Right side = 10. Bottom = 12.
I wish I knew if there was anything to all of this.
Continuing to ponder,
