Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

Final Stage on nothing to do with something is up.  Pepe Le Pew was right for stage 3 - I guessed all happened in 1945 for the final, what do they all have in common - I also asked Steph, that if i am right to send the lights to Sandi :-)  I have some already & you don't.

Hints are also up - for them days: Stuck, are we?  Consider this ... the dash (-) is literal.

Last Words:  There seems to be a bit of over-thinking going on for this one.  It is really as basic as it seems.  What is the picture showing you?  Now, what is the first part of that word?

Lots of help there, huh?  LOL :-)

Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

I had no idea you guys were discussing the WiseWits here on Steeple.  I was so proud of myself for figuring out the oboe one last night, but I submittd it after unruli...oh well.

I am still working on the [first evolver maestro]-[last plaid] WiseWit.   I haven't submitted an answer yet (I have learned my lesson of not thinking it through all the way and jumping the gun).

I have also found the Dave Smith reference to the Evolver synthesizer and I also thought that plaid could mean played...but if it had been a typo, I think WiseOz would have fixed it by now.  Then the clue that the -(dash) is literal, does that mean we are looking for a span of 2 dates i.e. 1900-1908??

I don't know anymore....between this and the Parts of Parts (what part of the Universe are they seeking) - my brain hurts!!

Alexis if we are playing it, we are making a forum for it LOL!

I'm still stuck on those two also - no guess from me yet.

There have been several wrong guesses so if anyone has made one, please share! Maybe that will help us.

    Nice job Alexis on Pluto!!

For the Virtual Images, she is getting tricky now! Picking the 4th and 8th entries instead of first!

If you enter your answer and feel like letting us know, that would be good.

I haven't entered yet but I know at least one person who says they did already. EDIT including Redhatty then 3 submissions so far I know of...I think I'm going to submit just to hurry this along

I had just submitted the same link (http://visiblevote08.logoonline.com/2007/11/13/barney-endorses-hillary-enda-anyone/) as Sandy  (so I guess that is at least 5 responses), before coming to Steeple.

Thanks for the congrats on the Pluto answer...I actually got it at 3:02am this morning...LOL  I was way over thinking it.  I had started to write down all the missing letters for all the clues and tried to anagram it out(but there were like 33 letters, not an easy task).  Then I was typing in Piano, Umbrella, Oboe, Train and Lamp in search engines with no luck.  Then I hand wrote out the 5 answers and it was like a lightbulb went off over my head:  PLUTO(the 1st letters of each clue).  I thought for sure everyone else had already beat me(since it was 3am when my brain started to work) to it, so I am sorry I didn't share my answer here(I actually went to sleep after submitting) I didn't know that I won until Joy told me...LOL

I am really starting to enjoy these WiseWits...keeps my mind from turning into TV mush.  I am also kind of glad for the change up (of picking the 4th or 8th submission).  It gives us mere mortals a chance against the "QuickWits" of unruli, Sandy & RedHatty..LOL

Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

BTW:  has anyone come up with any more ideas for the evolver maestro clue??  I can't think of anything else.

What about the Stage 2, Clue 2 of the Famous Last Words WiseWit(with the image of a grey background with something green on it)?  I see that WiseOz felt pity on us and gave a hint:

"I'm looking for somebody to tell me the first part of this word for what is being represented by the image.  The second part of the word might be considered a man's name."

I haven't submitted a response to this yet, but it looks like there is 12 incorrect repsonses.  Does anyone want to share there thoughts or incorrect responses?

Alexis - some wrong responses on the green stuff on the rock that I recall - LIKE,LIE,LYE,AL,LIKEN, DAVINCI

I thought it was lichen on a rock. Redhatty posted the link to the actual source f the picture. We had thought algae, lichen, mold, moss, organism...

I'm happy to see some new winners - however I officially dislike the random number draw part - and no, not because I keep losing now LOL.

It was okay for one time, but I don't find it very exhilerating to get a new clue now. It's look at it, then wait around for hours. There's little benefit of checking in regularly with the site this way either. I hope it's a temporary phase.

Otherwise, if it's not competitive as in first to answer, then I think it should be random draw from ALL correct answers submitted in a GIVEN time frame

Thanks for the thoughts on the image.

I can't complain too much about picking the 8th respondent.....because it actually turned out to be me :)

If I get any ideas about the Maestro clue or the image one, I'll post it.

Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

My wrong guess for the image was M (first part of moss)...

with the new clue up I think the answer must be LI (first part of lichen, last part being chen pronounced ken like a man's name.)

Somebody please guess this (or whatever the right answer is) so we can go on!

This is what I submitted for the Stage 6, Clue 6 of the Virtual Image Hunt(the bear in the precarious position):

    http://blogs.vermontteddybear.com/bebear/2007/10/11/scary-bears-eye-view-ends-well/

They are taking the 6th correct response

Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

So based on RedHatty's link to the picture of the Organic Vintage Wall http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=000005615675 and the clue that WiseOz gave us, looking for the 1st part of the word and the 2nd part of the word might be considered a man's name:  I guessed Or

I figured Organic is 3 syllables, the last syllable 'nic' sounds like a man's name(Nick)...so the 1st part of the word is "Or"

Has anyone else already guessed this?  I haven't looked through all the posts here, so if you did and posted it already, I'm sorry.

I had to decide between Or, Orga and Organ.  If I am wrong, someone should try organ.

P.S.  I see that the hint for the [first evolver maestro]-[last plaid] clue has changed. It now reads:

Stuck, are we?  Consider this ... the dash (-) is literal.  Also, look at evolver as "Evolver".

So does that mean the "Evolver" is reverring to the synthesizer created by Dave Smith or does it have something to do with the CD from the band 311 labeled Evolver?

Re: WiseOz - WiseWits Riddle Discussion

Oh nice one, I hope you are right with OR! Seems likely, as it is a still an actual word too.

I am still wondering about the Evolver angle also. Besides 311, I found several other bands that have albums with that name, including Grid, Godhead Lunchbox, The Kennedys, The Thanes, Monkeys with Guns, Ninth and the Choirboys. It is also the name of a movie and an record label.

Meanwhile, "last plaid" has me pretty stumped too. What are you guys thinking for that? Something about tartans?
