    States' Rights

OK, there appears to be quite a few Civil War buffs hanging about. So you guys are big states' rights advocates, huh?

So, Vermont has the right to legalize gay marriage and California has the right to give aid to illegal aliens and the federal government should do nothing about it?

No one has the right to do either. The former is unethical, unbiblical, and no matter what any document says! The Bible, says, God Himself says, that that is wrong, period, end of discussion, God overrides the constitution! The latter is also wrong, our founding fathers would roll over in their graves!
"There are two things never to be lost sight of by a military commander. Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible; and when you strike and overcome him, never give up the pursuit as long as your men have strength to follow; for an army routed, if hotly pursued, becomes panic-stricken, and can then be destroyed by half their number. The other rule is, never fight against heavy odds, if by any possible maneuvering you can hurl your own force on only a part, and that the weakest part, of your enemy and crush it. Such tactics will win every time, and a small army may thus destroy a large one in detail, and repeated victory will make it invincible." - Stonewall Jackson

Wow, that is not what I was thinking of!

First, the Bible overrides any and all government, it is against the Bible, and therefore they do not have the right to do that!

I have a lot to learn about the Constitution, but as far as I can tell they (we Sad) do have the right to give aid to them, as long as they don't use Federal tax money. But I hate to think that we live in a state that would be so stupid!

    I hope that makes sense.

Yes, I think it is wrong too. But the people who were elected to represent the people, do have the legal right to do it, as far as I can tell. I REALLY don't like the idea at all though. Sad

I hope I made myself clear, I do think it is very wrong for us to help, encourage, etc. illegal aliens.

Is it wrong for local churches to help illegal aliens?  Or is it alright for a state to approve church aide for illegal immigrants?

Illegal is illegal.  The state won't touch it for fear of "separation of church and state".

Is it wrong to help a runaway kid, or is it better to help them go back to where they belong untill they get permission to leave.

    Re: States' Rights

I am full of questions today.  I have another question that combines the illegal side with the state rights side with a little Civil War mixed in (who could have asked for a better question).

Were Christian plantation owners wrong in breaking the law and educating their slaves?  Another question dealing with the same issue: were churches wrong in aiding slaves to flee the South?
