    Star Dust:

I would just LOVE to play on a concert grand or something!!!

It looks like my dream may be realized!  I go for piano lessons at my teacher's church (it's huge) in a chapel building, but today we were talking and she said that she would see if we could have our next lesson in the sanctuary on the church's Steinway concert grand!!!!!!!  I'm so excited!!!  Then, after my lesson is over I might be able to stay and have it all to myself!!  This is great!!  My next lesson is not for two weeks though (my teacher's family is coming for a visit) Sad.  But still, I can't wait!!

That's great, Star Dust! I'm glad you'll get to play a concert grand (and not at a recital!)! That's exciting!

I didn't like playing at recitals, they always made me nervous! It was funny how nervous I got sometimes. Oh well... at least I got to play several grand pianos that way! Big Smile

Yeah, they make me nervous too.  I hate that part. :)  Then, if you mess up, it is usually some part that you have practiced so many times and have it perfect at home...but when you get up there...LOL!

Oh, but why don't you all like recitals? They're so dull, boring, untill it's your turn! And then that's the only time you mess up! LOL! I hate them too, but what student doesn't? It's a test is what it is!

"There are two things never to be lost sight of by a military commander. Always mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy, if possible; and when you strike and overcome him, never give up the pursuit as long as your men have strength to follow; for an army routed, if hotly pursued, becomes panic-stricken, and can then be destroyed by half their number. The other rule is, never fight against heavy odds, if by any possible maneuvering you can hurl your own force on only a part, and that the weakest part, of your enemy and crush it. Such tactics will win every time, and a small army may thus destroy a large one in detail, and repeated victory will make it invincible." - Stonewall Jackson

My first recital was in a huge auditorium on stage (complete with bright lights shining in your face) playing a concert grand. I kept messing up and had to go back and start all over!

I know what that's like! At my first piano recital (well, not my first, but my first with my former piano teacher), I played all my songs much faster than they should've been. My teacher and I did a duet of Turkey in the Straw, and my teacher had to keep up with my fast playing! Now when we listen to Turkey in the Straw, my friends tease me sometimes - "You're used to that being a lot faster!"

Oh, sorry, I feel so sorry for the kids who have to do that. I've never messed up that bad, but I probably will at my next recital! LOL!
