I seriously do not believe that Almighty God would "take sides" in ANY matter.  We are to side with Him.  We are to stand firm for His truth and in our faith of Jesus Christ.  I think this is the biggest issue I have about this thread.  Why is a matter of good (God) and evil (worldly ways) being reduced to North v South?

Fluffy I think God does take sides. God sided with the Israelites and those that were for them, even today. He does take sides against those who are against Him.

Say, has anyone ever heard of the Iron Scouts of the Confederacy led by Moesby (I have I spelled his name right)?

They were a band of spies that used guerilla warfare to fight against the tyrant North.

They were alot like Francis Marion aka Swamp Fox in the revolution. I love studying guerilla warfare in America, it has always been more affective.

I read a book about them once. I've never heard that they were guerillas though. Just special scouts.

I read that they conducted sabotage on many Northern caravans and parties.

Still say it was Israel that "sided" with God.  Also... it is not so much as a side as His people... you don't mess with a child of God Almighty... then YOU are picking a side you do NOT want to be on!!!

    Also... Lady A-

In the Revolutionary War, again... it is about WHO was fighting for WHAT.  What can you point to that says God took a side??  I mean really, can you see the Awesome Creator of the universe taking a "side"????  I think not.

Yes, I have heard of him, I think I heard them called 'Mosby's Marauders'. LOL! That was in my yankee days! Smile Lady Abigail, what was the name of the book?

I have a question for you: Did God "take sides" when Satan rebelled?

I can't see the Awesome Creator of the universe NOT taking a "side" in some situations! He has and does side with truth and righteousness.

OK, as much as I love my yankee siblings in Christ, I am nonetheless forced to release the following secret weapon. Please, I do apologize for ending the discussion with the following resource. Read it and weep, for our precious Lincoln is fully and irreversibly unmasked, along with the nonsensical arguments against the right to secede and the arrogant arguments that the war was fought for the moral rescue of our nation from slavery. Oh yeah, the guy who wrote this is a northern, mainstream historian who raised up on the typical diet of Lincoln-lovin' blah, blah, blah. The war was fought for the same reason all imperialistic wars have been fought: for the power and wealth of the aggressors.

Re: The War Between the States

Here are some interesting quotes that I came across:

I can touch a bell on my right hand, and order the arrest of a citizen of Ohio. I can touch the bell again, and order the imprisonment of a citizen in New York; and no power on earth, except that of the President, can release them. Can the Queen of England do so much? -Secretary of State William Seward

If I tap that little bell, I can send you to a place where you will never hear the dogs bark. -Secretary of War Edwin Stanton
