Heath Ledger's Family Accepts His Oscar...
The late Heath Ledger won a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker in Dark Knight.
His family, including his father Kim, mother Sally and sister Kate, accepted the award on his behalf.
In the acceptance speech, Kim said, "I have to say this is ever so humbling, being amongst such wonderful people. I'd like to thank the Academy for recognizing our son's amazing work." He also thanked Knight director Christopher Nolan for allowing Heath "the creative license to develop and explore this crazy Joker character," as well as Ledger's longtime pal and agent, Steve Alexander.
He added, "This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here, his peers, within an industry he so loved."
Sister Kate said, "We really wish you were here but we proudly accept this award on behalf of your beautiful daughter Matilda."
His mother Sally called her late son a "generous soul."

Recession 2009: NYC bar offers $1000 Oscar cocktail...

(UPI) - A bartender at a high-end New York watering hole is giving a nod to Sunday night's Academy Awards with a $1,000 cocktail.
Hudson Library Bar bartender Marcelo Venegas said the Illy Issimo Academy Gold Cocktail being offered at an Oscars party at the bar features rum, Illy Issimo Latte Macchiato, lime juice and syrup, the New York Daily News reported.
There also is strawberry puree on its rim and it comes with a small gold-colored chocolate statue.
But what makes the beverage a truly costly treat is the digestible gold in its chilled martini glass.
Despite the unique ingredient, those who spoke with the Daily News felt $1,000 was a bit too much for a single drink.
"Not unless it included two weeks' paid vacation," supermarket worker Stephen Lucas said of the Gold Cocktail.

"They would have to put the elixir of life inside of it," 23-year-old college student Danielle Curran said.

Ok, enough about those Oscars!!

Richie and Madden are proud parents of daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who turned one on Jan. 11.

Rihanna Breaks Her Silence...

(UPI) - Barbados-born singer Rihanna, who was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend Chris Brown this month, is doing well, her publicist said Friday.
Brown, 19, was arrested Feb. 8 in Los Angeles and charged with making a criminal threat. He posted bail and is slated to be arraigned next month.
"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," Rihanna's publicist said in a statement issued to People magazine Friday, Rihanna's 21st birthday. "She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time."
People.com noted this was the first statement made by Rihanna's camp since Brown's arrest. The remarks came a day after a photo purportedly of Rihanna's battered face was posted on the Internet.
The union that represents Los Angeles police officers said Friday it supported the police department's decision to open an internal investigation to determine whether the photo of Rihanna was part of police evidence in the case, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Should I feel bad about posting that pic of Rihanna?
