American Idol Has a New Judge...
Paula, Randy and Simon need to make room at the judges' table for a fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi.
American Idol announced Monday that the Grammy-winning songwriter will join Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson for the eighth season of Idol, which premieres in January 2009.
"We are turning the heat up on Idol this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in a statement. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."
Added executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz, "We had originally intended for American Idol to have four judges. We've seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers."
DioGuardi has written songs for several artists including: Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Santana, and Pink. Scores of major recording artists who have worked with her include Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Pussycat Dolls, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Natasha Bedingfield, Jewel, Ashley Tisdale, Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, Clay Aiken, Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Enrique Iglesias, Nick Lachey and Marc Anthony.

Barenaked Ladies Singer Survives Plane Crash...
Barenaked Ladies singer Ed Robertson, along with three other passengers, survived a plane crash in Ontario, Canada, Sunday.
Deputy fire chief told the Intelligencer that Robertson is "really lucky" to be alive. He told the paper  that the four passengers managed to escape through a window without "a scratch."
I'm glad they are OK. Now wipe your pants off and go work on an album!

Sheen To Be A Dad Again...
Charlie Sheen is set to be a dad again - his new wife Brooke Mueller is pregnant.
The happy news comes less than three months after the couple wed in Los Angeles.
A source tells In Touch magazine, "They are so happy and excited... They are in love, and this news makes things even better."
Sheen and Mueller met in 2006, while the actor was in the middle of a messy divorce battle with former wife Denise Richards.
Sheen has two young daughters, Sam and Lola, with his ex.

Hilton To Duet With Madden...
Paris Hilton plans to record a duet with boyfriend, Good Charlotte's Benji Madden.
The socialite, 27, reveals that the Good Charlotte star has been helping to write songs for her new album.
And she insists the pair will do a duet around the time her new reality series Paris Hilton's My New BFF launches in October.

Andy *** Charged with Battery and Drug Possession...
Comedian Andy *** will face a series of misdemeanor charges after escaping prosecution on counts of sexual battery following his arrest last month.
The 42-year-old comedian posted $5,000 bail following his arrest in Murieta, California, on July 16 on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery.
Onlookers reported he had walked up to a 17-year-old female outside a restaurant and "grabbed her tank top and bra and pulled them down and exposed her breasts".
Cops stopped *** and friends at a nearby discount grocery store after they had driven away from the establishment in a truck.

The cast is very diverse. Former N'Sync member and openly gay Lance Bass, is among the cast and will be partnered with Lacey Schwimmer (there was some speculation that the show would pair him with another male dancer.)

Kim Kardashian has assured fans her recent hospitalization for a foot injury will not halt her appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
Kardashian was admitted to New York Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday night after slicing her foot on a glass coffee table in her hotel room.
But the star is determined to keep up with the grueling rehearsals that lie ahead for the show, despite her bloody debacle.

Britney Won't Perform at VMAs...
Britney Spears won't be giving us more, at least not at the VMAs this year.
KIIS FM host Ryan Seacrest quoted the singer's manager Larry Rudolph on Monday, saying, "Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and unequivocally."
Rudolph told Seacrest the Spears is recording her next album, "which is going amazingly well, and was never supposed to perform at that show."
The singer, who is nominated for three VMAs, is still appearing alongside host Russell Brand in TV spots promoting the September 7 show.

Police Pull Gun On Combs...
A Los Angeles police officer pulled a gun on hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs during a routine traffic stop on Saturday.
A member of the rapper's entourage was pulled over at 3:15 a.m. on the city's Sunset Strip after authorities noticed the rental car he was driving did not have proper tags, police said on Sunday.
According to Los Angeles County's Sheriff department, the deputy called for backup when two cars stopped nearby as he searched the vehicle.

Panettiere Breaks Silence on Father's Arrest...
Actress Hayden Panettiere has broken her silence about the alleged domestic incident which led to her father's arrest earlier this month.
The Heroes star's father, Alan, was held on suspicion of felony spousal abuse on August 11, after allegedly striking his wife, Lesley, three times.
The couple appeared on Extra following the incident, in an effort to clear up what they called "a big misunderstanding".
And 19-year-old Hayden is now echoing her parents' claims, insisting Los Angeles authorities exaggerated the incident.
She tells Extra: "It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame. My family is wonderful, so very happy. We're all great."
Reports suggest Lesley Panettiere called police after a fight with her husband. The incident is said to have followed a row at actress Eva Longoria Parker's Los Angeles restaurant Beso late at night on August 10.
Alan Panettiere, a fire department official, was released from jail on $50,000 bail on August 11.

Snoop Dogg To Launch New Clothing Line...

Snoop Dogg says he's launching a new clothing line which he intends to promote heavily on his reality TV series and elsewhere.
The Rich & Infamous streetwear line is aimed at men between 18 and 35 and was developed in conjunction with brand manager the Robert Thorne Co., licensing firm IMG World and design house Industry Concepts, the Variety reported Monday.
Among Snoop Dogg's promotional efforts for the clothing will be exposure on his E! Network television show Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, CD packaging with the Rich & Infamous brand message and product pictures, fashion shows held in conjunction with his world concert tour, and the production of an original Web video series to be distributed across multiple sites and iTunes, the newspaper said.
Snoop Dogg also told Variety he will give the Rich & Infamous line its world premiere this week at the Magic fashion trade show in Las Vegas.
