8-23 Dish: Da Brat Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison
Not much goin' on in Hollywood... Just a few stories today...
Da Brat Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison...
Rapper Da Brat has been sentenced to three years in prison for striking a waitress with a rum bottle at a nightclub last year.
A Superior Court Judge ruled on Friday the hip-hop hitmaker - real
name Shawntae Harris - will also serve seven years probation and 200
hours of community service for the incident in addition to her jail
time.
Harris, 34, was involved in the altercation at a Halloween party at
Studio 72 nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 31, 2007.
The pair were reported by police to have gotten into an altercation
prior to the assault - resulting in the victim's hospitalization and
permanent facial scarring.
Harris entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault in the case.
According to reports, the rapper pleaded to her weeping family as she was led out of the court
room, saying: "I love y'all."
Harris was previously convicted in 2000 for misdemeanor reckless conduct.
Couple Alert? Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas...
It's a match made in Young Hollywood heaven.
Though both Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas insist they are just friends, concert goers at the West Palm Beach Cruzan Amphitheater last week tell a different story.
People.com reports that Jonas (the middle brother) arrived at the Rascal Flatts concert minutes before Swift was due on stage.
"I spotted Joe quickly, but he was trying to hide from the
crowds by tucking in-between a few people," Mishelle Rivera, Assistant
Promotions Director for Miami's Y-100 Radio, tells People. "He was
wearing a baseball cap and real casual dress so he wouldn't stand out."
Standing next to Swift's dad, he watched her performance then
made his way backstage. "But when he saw people start to recognize him,
he hid," Rivera says. "It was real obvious he didn't want people to
know he was there to see Taylor."
Swift herself has made a few appearances at the Jonas Brothers' concerts and also shot a cameo for their 3-D movie.
She told People in July that she and the brothers are "all
friends," and when Ryan Seacrest asked Jonas if he and Swift were
dating he said, "She's a great girl ... I think anybody would love to
go on a date with her."
