Harry Potter Star Suffers From Dyspraxia...
LONDON, August 18 (UPI) -- Daniel Radcliffe, the 19-year-old British star of the Harry Potter movies, says he has dyspraxia, a brain disorder associated with clumsiness.
Radcliffe, preparing to make his Broadway debut in the play Equus, told the Daily Mail last weekend his disorder makes it hard from him to do simple things such as tie his shoelaces.
"I sometimes think, 'Why, oh why, has Velcro not taken off?'"
Radcliffe jokingly told the newspaper, adding that his condition was
partly responsible for his decision to go into acting because it
prevented him from becoming successful at other things in school.
The newspaper said the neurological problem is common and affects
the organization of movement. It can touch many areas of development,
including intellectual, physical and language, and can hurt normal
learning processes.
The British newspaper said Radcliffe’s dyspraxia is at the mild end
of the spectrum, but when severe cases strike it can make it difficult
to perform such simple tasks as walking up and down stairs or running.

Teen Girl Drinks Bleach To Avoid Arranged Marriage...

(UPI) A forced marriage drove a 16-year-old Saudi girl to drink bleach rather than marry a 75-year-old man, she said.
Her own father was "swapping" her for the 13-year-old daughter of the
other man, said the girl identified only as Shaikha, who saw suicide as
her only way out of an unwanted marriage, Dubai's Online news service
al-Arabiya reported Monday.
The 16-year-old described being taken to meet the old man and the
13-year-old in a marriage office where all had premarital tests done.
Shaikha has since appealed to the National Society of Human Rights to
stop the marriage, asking to go live with her mother, who is separated
from her father.
At least one authority is in agreement while the case remains under investigation.
"Judges can punish men who force their daughters to marry like this,"
Sheikh Abdul Mohsin al-Obeikan, Shura Council member said, adding that
the marriage contract was necessarily void because it violated Shariah
law.
And that's The Dish!
