11-30 Dish: Chicken Pox Puts Spice Tour In Doubt
30 November 07 09:20 AM | Zach | with no comments
Not a lot of time today either... these puzzles are taking all my time!!

Chicken Pox Puts Spice Tour In Doubt...
The SPICE GIRLS reunion tour is under threat after GERI HALLIWELL's daughter BLUEBELL fell ill with chicken pox - risking the health of the band.
Halliwell was so concerned about the virus spreading to the rest of the band - and their children - that she has had the 18-month-old flown back to the U.K. to be looked after by her family.
Although chicken pox is a disease which mainly affects children, the virus can lead to an outbreak of shingles in adults - a debilitating condition which could leave the singers too ill to perform.

Studios Offer Extra Cash To Call Off Writer's Strike...
Hollywood studios have offered striking writers a new contract - which would see them paid millions of dollars extra for Internet shows in a bid to end the current walkouts.
However, the Writers Guild of America - which has been striking since November 5th - has asked for more time to consider whether to accept the offer and end the deadlock.
The offer, which has been dubbed the New Economic Partnership, includes payment for programmes which are shown on the web which would net workers an additional $130 million a year.

Everyone Returning For High School Musical 3...
All the stars from the first two High School Musical movies will be back for the third installment, Hollywood director Kenny Ortega told Usmagazine.com.
"I have a feeling this will be the end (for the current stars). This franchise may move to another generation," Ortega told the magazine.
Its time for Levels 16-20!!!

By the way, level 16 was changed so the answer is not Disc.... This was due to the accidental posting of the wrong levels yesterday

Good luck!!

Britney's Pal: She's Not Pregnant...
In Touch magazine is reporting that the mom of two is pregnant with her third child and the father is music producer, J.R. Rotem. The mag's story quotes Rotem saying, "It's true."
However, Spears pal Sam Lufti denied these rumors in a text message to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show Wednesday.

Lohan Ordered To Give Deposition...
LINDSAY LOHAN has been ordered to give a deposition for a negligence lawsuit filed against her earlier this year after crashing her car in October 2005.
The actress is being sued by victim Raymundo Ortega for crashing her Mercedes-Benz into his red van in Hollywood, after allegedly drinking at celebrity hotspot The Ivy.
Lohan's attorneys have been attempting to have plans for the star to give evidence on videotape scrapped, amid fears the footage could later be sold on for a large amount of cash, reports TMZ.com.

11-28 Dish: Castroneves & Hough Cross "Dancing" Finish Line Helio
28 November 07 11:00 AM | Zach | 1 comment(s)

Due to some people figuring out that I released the Dish contest online earlier than 12:00 PM EST, I will release the puzzle sometime later today but NOT at Noon. Look for it from 2:30 to 5:00 PM EST. Here's the dish!

Castroneves & Hough Cross "Dancing" Finish Line Helio...
Spice Girls star Mel B missed out on the Dancing with the Stars crown on Tuesday night after racing driver Helio Castroneves drove off with the big win.
The Wannabe singer, who kickstarts the Spice Girls reunion tour in Canada on Sunday, beat veteran entertainer Marie Osmond to come in second after votes from judges and viewers were counted.

Daly Returns Amid Writers Strike...
Oh this is still going on? Then why am I not on the picket lines?
Former MTV favourite Carson Daly is set to become the first late night chat show host in America to defy the ongoing writers strike and resume production of his Last Call program.
Daly, who is not a member of the Writers Guild union, will begin taping new episodes of his show later this week. They'll air next week.

Kevin Federline: "Most Influential"...
Kevin Federline has been many things: a back-up dancer, a rapper, an actor, Britney Spears' husband, a father and a prop in WWE RAW. Now he can add another item to his resume: one of Details magazine's "50 Most Unfluential Men Under 45."
The cover boy came in at lucky number 7 under the title "The Good Fathers" and shares the honor with Larry Birkhead.

Sandler Film Crew Injured...
Two stuntmen working on Adam Sandler's new movie You Don't Mess with the Zohan wererushed to hospital after suffering severe burns.
The victims - whose identities have not been released - were filming a scene at Universal Studio's European Street set in Los Angeles when the accident occurred. Emergency services were called to the scene to treat a man in his thirties with burns to his face, with a second injured also treated for injuries.
However L.A. county Fire Inspector Sam Padilla insists there was no risk of a full scale blaze and both men are in a moderate condition at a local hospital.

Get ready, GO! I just set up the link so you can get to round 2! I cant post the link here, because some people may be just starting.  So, if you forgot the link, go back to the page after level 5.

A note on finishing each round. You can work on each round as long as you need to, the final cut off date is next Monday because I will be posting the winners then. So, no more "you must finish by noon" stuff. However, it would be nice to get that days leaderboard up on the same day! So, lets shoot for a full 10 again today! Please note there will be two leaderboards posted. Todays rank and Overall rank.

On a side note, round 2, set to start on Monday, is going to be a bit harder. But, I want some user supported levels! So, if you want to create a level, all you have to do is send zach@steeplemedia.com an email that includes ALL information such as:

Title:
Content:
Souce:
Picture:
Picture comments:
Eggs:
Solution:

For example, let me do that for level 3...

Title: Oh man, Sudoku!
Source: You should be good for this level...
Content: Sudoku Puzzle (attatched to email)
Picture: Sudoku Puzzle
Picture comments: none
Eggs: sudoku.htm -- Ok, its a Sudoku... Do it!
######.htm -- ###### --> your getting closer to the answer... Wait a second, is your cell phone ringing?
Solution: Solve the sudoku, and get numbers ######, then use the #### ##### to get the answer which is ######.htm

(Obviously I bleeped everything out that would give away the answer, just in case people are still stuck on that level.)

So, email those in BY Sunday at 6:00 PM EST so I can get them ready and up for the next weeks rounds! You will also be given credit where it says who posted the puzzle. I really need about 10 levels more so if everyone takes 2, that would be awesome!!!! (Plus, every submission that makes it into the puzzle will be given 1-3 prize points depending on how hard/good the level is.

11-21 Dish: Hollywood Writers, Studios Resume Talks
27 November 07 09:00 AM | Zach | with no comments

Well, after that LOOOONNNNGGG Thanksgiving weekend that I took, I'm ready to be blogging again. So, lets stretch those blogging fingers out! Here we go!

Hollywood Writers, Studios Resume Talks...
Striking screenwriters resumed contract talks with the major studios on Monday for the first time since trading pens for picket signs three weeks ago in the worst Hollywood labor dispute in two decades.
Imposing a media blackout on negotiations for the first time since talks began in July, the parties returned to the bargaining table at about 10 a.m. at an undisclosed, neutral location in Los Angeles, a studio spokesman confirmed.

Report: Hogans Relationship Crumbling For Months...
Hollywood gossip website TMZ.com claims Hulk Hogan and wife Linda were seperated for months before last week's divorce filing, and even filmed part of their television reality show while split.
Hogan's wife has reportedly been trying to repair the damage of her crumbling marriage for months - but was forced to file for divorce as a last resort.

Rodman Denies Sexual Harassment Allegations...
Former basketball star Dennis Rodman has denied accusations he sexually harassed a Las Vegas hotel employee, insisting he would "never hurt or harm anyone".

Zac Hanson and Wife Expecting a Baby...

Winfrey Used Dirty Tactics To Prevent Expose?...
Oprah Winfrey has been accused of employing dirty tactics in an attempt to prevent her company Harpo Productions from becoming the subject of a revealing expose, according to reports.
Keifer Bonvillain - who calls himself a "civil-rights activist" - is courting a number of publishers to get backing for his book Ruthless, and has launched a website to attract potential investors.
Bonvillain, 37, was arrested and charged with federal extortion last year after trying to sell Winfrey audiotapes of a prominent Harpo employee criticising her for $1.5 million. But the charge was thrown out of an Illinois court.

BREAKING NEWS: NFL's Sean Taylor dead, friend says
27 November 07 07:20 AM | Zach | with no comments

Courtesy of CNN.com

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died, a day after he was shot in the leg, said family friend Richard Sharpstein.

art.taylor.02.ap.jpg

Sean Taylor never regained consciousness after being taken to a hospital, says a family friend.

He said Taylor's father called him around 5:30 a.m. to tell him the news.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

He said he did not know exactly when Taylor died.

Doctors had been encouraged late Monday night when Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand. But Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital and that he wasn't sure how he had squeezed the nurse's hand.

"Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said.

The 24-year-old Redskins safety was shot early Monday in his home in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing significant blood loss.

Miami-Dade Police were investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home. Officers were dispatched about 1:45 a.m. Monday after Taylor's girlfriend called 911. Taylor was airlifted to the hospital.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house at the time, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured.

"It could have been a possible burglary; it could have been a possible robbery," Miami-Dade Police Lt. Nancy Perez said. "It has not been confirmed as yet."

Taylor was shot at the pale yellow house he bought two years ago in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay. Taylor played at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003, and was also a high school standout in the city. His father, Pedro Taylor, is the police chief of Florida City.

Taylor starred as a running back and defensive back at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami.

Teammates and coaches often have portrayed Taylor as misunderstood, and that much was true. A private man with a small inner circle, Taylor became distrustful of reporters and anyone else he didn't know well. He rarely granted interviews, sometimes declining with a smile and a handshake and sometimes with a snarl that said: "Get out of my way."

But, behind the scenes, Taylor was described as personable and smart -- an emerging locker room leader.

Especially since the birth of his daughter Jackie.

"From the first day I met him, from then to now, it's just like night and day," Redskins receiver James Thrash said. "He's really got his head on his shoulders and has been doing really well as far as just being a man. It's been awesome to see that growth."

An All-American at the University of Miami, Taylor was drafted by the Redskins with the fifth overall selection in 2004. Coach Joe Gibbs called it "one of the most researched things" he's ever done, but the problems soon began. Taylor fired his agent, then skipped part of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium, drawing a $25,000 fine. Driving home late from a party during the season, he was pulled over and charged with drunken driving. The case was dismissed in court, but by then it had become a months-long distraction for the team.

Taylor was also fined at least seven times for late hits, uniform violations and other infractions over his first three seasons, including a $17,000 penalty for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman during a playoff game in January 2006.

Meanwhile, Taylor endured a yearlong legal battle after he was accused in 2005 of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight over allegedly stolen all-terrain vehicles near Taylor's home. He eventually pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months' probation.

Taylor said the end of the assault case was like "a gray cloud" being lifted. It was also around the time that Jackie was born, and teammates noticed a change.

"It's hard to expect a man to grow up overnight," said Redskins teammate and close friend Clinton Portis, who also played with Taylor at the University of Miami. "But ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it. He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

On the field, Taylor's play was often erratic. Assistant coach Gregg Williams frequently called Taylor the best athlete he's ever coached, but nearly every big play was mitigated by a blown assignment. Taylor led the NFL in missed tackles in 2006 yet made the Pro Bowl because of his reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the league.

This year, however, Taylor was allowed to play a true free safety position, using his speed and power to chase down passes and crush would-be receivers. His five interceptions tie for the league lead in the NFC, even though he missed the last two games because of a sprained knee. Teammates said he had overhauled his diet this year to include more fruit, fish and vegetables and less red meat.

"I just take this job very seriously," Taylor said in a rare group interview during training camp. "It's almost like, you play a kid's game for a king's ransom. And if you don't take it serious enough, eventually one day you're going to say, 'Oh, I could have done this, I could have done that.'

"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."

His hard work was well-noted.

"He loved football. He felt like that's what he was made to do," Gibbs said. "And I think what I've noticed over the last year and a half ... is he matured. I think his baby had a huge impact on him. There was a real growing up in his life."

Exciting new contest!

Happy Turkey Day or as Vegetarians/Vegans call it, Tofurky Day
22 November 07 08:33 AM | Zach | with no comments

I have a few things to discuss before we all fill up on turkey on this wonderful Thanksgiving! Here it goes.

I wanted to start off with a few “thanks”.

  • I would like to thank you for reading this post. You decided to spend some of your quality family time on Turkey Day to read it. I would do the same thing.
  • I would like to thank the SteepleMedia community for staying with the website for soo long.
  • I would like to thank TH for all his hard work. This year has really shown me how much he really does. But I can still tell that he does more work than I can imagine.
  • I would like to thank all the SteepleMedia bloggers for keeping their blogs running.
  • I would like to thank all the stores in the area for starting to play Christmas (or as I am supposed to call it “Holiday”) music 8 days before Thanksgiving.
  • I would like to thank the Bell Ringers who now have softer bells so I dont end up with a headache every time I go to the store. I gave them $5 yesterday Smile
  • I would like to thank my family and anyone else who I have not mentioned for everything you do for this world.

The second topic on my mind was the new product out called “Tofurky”. Turtle Island Foods, Inc. is the creator of the popular Tofurky Vegetarian Roast, commonly sold at natural foods stores during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Also included in the company's product line is the soy-based, 100% vegan Tofurky Vegetarian Feast.

I am not trying to be mean to those who are vegetarians (my best friend is one) but this one is directed to all the turkey lovers. How gross does that sound? I first heard about it on Night Line. They showed how its made and I gagged. During the commercial break after seeing that, I kissed my turkey.

This third topic is for my trivia buddies! I have some “Turkey Trivia” (courtesy of infoplease.com):

  • At one time, the turkey and the bald eagle were each considered as the national symbol of America. Benjamin Franklin was one of those who argued passionately on behalf of the turkey. Franklin felt the turkey, although "vain and silly", was a better choice than the bald eagle, whom he felt was "a coward".
  • According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the U.S. at Thanksgiving—that's one sixth of all turkeys sold in the U.S. each year. American per capita consumption of turkeys has soared from 8.3 pounds in 1975 to 18.5 pounds last year.
  • Last year, 2.7 billion pounds of turkey was processed in the United States.
  • In 1995, retail sales of turkey reached approximately $4.4 billion. They are expected to reach $4.7 billion in 2000.
  • Age is a determining factor in taste. Old, large males are preferable to young toms (males) as tom meat is stringy. The opposite is true for females: old hens are tougher birds.
  • A turkey under sixteen weeks of age is called a fryer, while a young roaster is five to seven months old.
  • Turkeys are the only breed of poultry native to the Western Hemisphere.
  • Turkeys have great hearing, but no external ears. They can also see in color, and have excellent visual acuity and a wide field of vision (about 270 degrees), which makes sneaking up on them difficult. However, turkeys have a poor sense of smell (what's cooking?), but an excellent sense of taste.
  • Domesticated turkeys cannot fly. Wild turkeys, however, can fly for short distances at speeds up to 55 miles per hour. They can also reach speeds of 25 miles per hour on the ground.
  • Turkeys sometimes spend the night in trees.
  • Turkeys can have heart attacks: turkeys in fields near the Air Force test areas over which the sound barrier was broken were known to drop dead from the shock of passing jets
  • The ballroom dance known as the Turkey Trot was named for the short, jerky steps a turkey makes.

For those who are on a diet, or anyone else who wants to test this theory, here is how to avoid overeating at Thanksgiving. (courtesy of ehow.com)

The methods used to avoid overeating at Thanksgiving will keep you healthy throughout the year.

Instructions

  • STEP 1: Eat a decent breakfast and lunch. Don't starve yourself until the big meal arrives.
  • STEP 2: Exercise before the meal; this will suppress your appetite and boost your metabolism.
  • STEP 3: Drink two or three glasses of water before the feast begins.
  • STEP 4: Avoid conflict or dysfunctional family dynamics that can stress you out to the point where you take solace in food.
  • STEP 5: Eat 3/4 of the food on your plate and don't overload it.
  • STEP 6: Reduce your intake by refusing seconds.
  • STEP 7: Remember that you can always enjoy leftovers the next day.
  • STEP 8: Forgive yourself if you do overeat. One large meal is not a problem; many large meals in a row are.
  • STEP 9: Keep a journal of what you eat. Remember that one pound is equal to 3,500 calories.

Tips & Warnings

  • A 3.5 oz. serving of roasted turkey breast has 115 calories; a 3.5 oz. piece of roasted dark meat with skin has 221 calories; a 3.5 oz. piece of roasted dark meat without skin has 187 calories.
  • A piece of apple pie (an 1/8 of the pie) has 347 calories; a piece of blueberry pie (an 1/8 of the pie) has 387 calories; a piece of cherry pie (an 1/8 of the pie) has 418 calories.
  • A 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes has 111 calories.
  • A 1/2 cup of bread stuffing has 198 calories; a 1/2 cup of cornbread stuffing has 175 calories.
  • A 3-oz. serving of meat, poultry or fish is about the size of a deck of playing cards. A single ounce of meat, poultry or fish is about the size of a matchbox. One cup of fruit or yogurt is about the size of a baseball. Half a cup vegetables, pasta, rice or fruit is about the size of half a baseball or tennis ball. One medium potato is about the size of a computer mouse. One cup chopped fresh leafy greens is about the size of four lettuce leaves.

Once again, thank you for stopping by and thinking about SteepleMedia on Thanksgiving. Have a nice Turkey Day!!

11-22 Review: So much drama on the reality shows
22 November 07 02:03 AM | unilab98 | with no comments

Okay, well I guess that's not too much of a surprise.

I missed ANTM this week, so I will be doing some catch up myself. But I CAN report on Shot at Love (Tila Tequila), I Love New York 2, The Bachelor, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and Real Word: Sydney today.

Shot at Love: So if you missed last week's, you missed a doosey.  At the end of the selection, it was down to Vanessa and Brandi (the two girls who HATE eachother).  When Tila chooses Brandi, Vanessa grabs Brandi by the hair.  A bit of a brawl ensues.  Vanessa is thrown out.  Brandi cries, mumbles to Tila about how she can't take it anymore and is going to leave.  So they leave us hanging to see if Brandi really goes, which she does.  This week's competition for alone time with Tila is a battle in which they have to see who can get the most chocolate into a bucket by diving into a pool of chocolate. Wierd.  Bobby won.  Then they were threesome dates- 2 competitors and Tila- for everyone else. Brandi asks to come back, Tila says no.  In the end, Dominco is sent home.  Everyone cries.  Aww...

I Love New York 2:Visitors come on the show:girlfriends and sisters.  And even more...Real and Chance come back.   Ooooh.  You know something is going down.  The fellas get grilled by Real and Chance about their past.  The fellas, of course get a bit upset when Chance proceeds to be all over New York.  A bit of violence erupts.  Punk throws a table on Chance and Real.  Man, and I thought he was the cool one- guess not.  New York is concerned from rumors that Pretty is gay and asks his sister alot of personal question.  New York then throws a party for the fellas and the guests.  After the party, New York indicates that she is worried about Mr. Wise- he lied about when his last relationship ended and she thinks he is still in love with his ex.  When she goes to confront Pretty, he flips out, and says some nasty things to New York.   New York storms out.after him to cuss his butt out Sigh.  Anyway- seems apparent he was NOT there for New York and he leaves the house.

Real World Sydney: Alot of drama here.  Isaac is gone back to America as he found out that his grandfather passed away during last episode.  Trisha and Parisa fight over the phone and Trisha making a rude remark about Parisa's family.  Dunbar picks a stupid fight with his girlfriend over the phone.  Ashli tries to get it on with Dunbar.  Trisha and Parisa get into ANOTHER fight over the phone and Trisha ends up pushing Parisa.  Parisa makes a call to the producers.  Hmmm....do we expect her to get kicked off next week???? Tune in to see.

The Bachelor:  Quick and dirty.  Final selection day.  He doesn't choose EITHER girl.

Keeping up with Kardashians:
First day I've watched it.  This show is about Kim Kardashian's family. Kourtney fears that she may be pregnant- the home taken test is inconclusive.  She then goes with her boyfriend to the gyno- Kylie and Kendall want a puppy. Bruce (dad) says no.  Kris (mom) takes the girls to the pet store and also falls in love with one of the dogs, so they get one anyway and hide it from Bruce.  Mom, the older kids, and Kourtney's boyfriend go to Vegas.  The b/f semi-proposes to Kourtney.  So the next day they discuss it again and decide to go ahead with the wedding plans, much to Kris' dismay.  They proceed to the wedding chapel where Britney Spears first got married.  In the end, the call it off.  Oh, and Bruce finds out about the dog.

So sad to have so many recent losses
22 November 07 12:13 AM | unilab98 | with no comments

As Zach reported earlier, Kanye West's mother passed away recently.  Her death came the day after undergoing 3 plastic surgery procedures.  Her plastic surgeon was to be interviewed by Larry King, however walked out during the show. He then came back and made a statement saying that he wasn't taking sides and that the West family was his side or something to that effect.  Then Larry announced that the family had written him a letter indicating that if he spoke about it, they would ask for his de-certification.  So then his lawyer came on an talked for a bit. Something is definitely going on there.

On Tuesday, the mother of Jonathan Rhys Meyers passed away. Apparently, she had been ill for a brief time before her death.  Jonathan was in Dublin promoting "August Rush" when his mother passed.

Di*ck (since his real name is censored) Wilson, the actor's whose catchphrase was "Please don't squeeze the Charmin" as Mr. Whipple on TV commercials died from natural causes in Woodland Hill CA at the age of 91.  The Charmin campaign ran for more than 20 years. Wilson portrayed Mr. Whipple in more than 500 commercials from 1964 to 1985 and then later in 1999.
