8-14 Dish: Major Mattel toy recall, Big Brother 8 Update
Today's post is a little late yes... I know... The internet has been down here all day. Had to go home for lunch just to check my email! Oh well, thats life. Here's todays dish!
Mattel Recalls Millions More Chinese-Made Toys...
I know this doesn't really fall into the "Dish" category but it is a major news topic I think. I could rant for a few hundred thousand words about it but I wont.
Mattel Inc., the largest U.S. toy company, recalled millions more Chinese-made toys on Tuesday due to hazards from small, powerful magnets and lead paint, sending its shares down as much as 6 percent.
The company's second recall this month came as it launched a national advertising campaign to assure consumers it is on top of product safety.
OK, now for celeb dirt.
Paris Has Left the Neighborhood!...
So long Paris! Paris Hilton sold her 1920's Spanish-style home for a price tag of $4.25 million. The property, which she purchased in 2004 for $2.9 million, sold in just 10 days according to Us Weekly .
The mansion has 3.5 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms (one has been converted to a closet) as well as an office and separate guest quarters. The interior is said to be influenced by Old Hollywood glamour.
Britney's Former "Manny" Served...
A day after Britney Spears' pal/assistant Alli Sims was served with a subpoena concerning Kevin Federline and Spears' custody battle, one of Brit's former bodyguards was also issued a court summons.
Daimon Shippen, who was once referred to as Britney's "manny"/boyfriend, was served with court papers Monday night, according to E! News. It's expected that Shippen will be forced to testify, along with Sims, on Spears' parenting skills and the "Toxic" singer's drinking and partying habits.
May I also add that Britney is starting to look very large in the face...
OJ Simpson's Book to be Published...
O.J. Simpsons's hypothetical description of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman will be printed by a New York publisher.
A literary agent for the Goldman family has made a deal to repackage and publish "If I Did It" after relatives were awarded rights to the book by a federal judge in Florida last month.
I'm going to buy this one probably. Just to see how he would have done it...
Finally the Daily Big Brother 8 update.
Yesterday was the Veto ceremony. Evel used the veto to save Danielle which made Jess put Dustin on the block. Eric is still sick, the BB gods made him basically go stay in bed and stay away from everyone. Last night was also the big Half way mark party. There are only 5 weeks to go. Whick doesnt make sense, 3 double eviction weeks? or maybe a triple eviction week. Hmmm.
