'Idol' and '5th grader'

Published 28 February 07 12:01 AM | Zach

I tried a different format last week for Idol and it seemed to work well, so this week, I will use the same format, unless someone else has an idea. Tonight is the top 10 guys! Hopefully they are better than last week.

I have decided that this season I will watch the show and judge without the imput of the judges. I mute them while I type my results. Then I replayed the results during breaks and said who I agreed with. Honestly!! These performances are in order so if you are still up until 12:00 PM EST tonight, you can still call in! Remember the number is 1-866-IDOLS(43657)-(their two digits eg. 01 or 12) OR if you have a Cingular Wireless phone, you can text the word VOTE to 57(their two digits). ((OK now I really feel like Ryan))

01. Philip Joel "Phil" Stacey sang Missing You by John Waite.

How I think they did: he started way off pitch. He did pick a pretty good song for who he dedicated it to. At parts he looked like Chris Daughtry. Just didn’t sound like him.

I agree with Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 5) (Last week: 3)

02. Jared Cotter sang Lets Get It On by Marvin Gaye.

How I think they did: He sang better than he did last week. It was pitchy at times. But he did a very good job.

I agree with Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 8) (Last week: 8)

03. Antonio Javier "A.J." Tabaldo sang Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

How I think they did: He is feelin good after that one! That was awesome!!

I agree with Randy on replay.

My Order (This week: 6) (Last week: 4)

04. Sanjaya Malakar sang Steppin’ Out With My Baby by Tony Bennett.

How I think they did: I thought it was really bad actually. His song was too easy.

I agree with Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 9) (Last week: 7)

05. Chris Sligh sang Trouble by Ray LaMontagne.

How I think they did: It was a very good song! He did get ahead of the music at times but it was very good.

I agree with Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 3) (Last week: 2)

06. Nicholas Pedro sang Fever by Peggy Lee.

How I think they did: It was better than last week. But I think he could do better. It was pitchy…

I agree with Randy on replay.

My Order (This week: 7) (Last week: 6)

07. Blake Lewis sang Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai.

How I think they did: It started off like last week, but I thought it was weak. He missed the high note. The beat boxing was nice though. I still think he is the best guy singing.

I agree with Randy, Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 1) (Last week: 1)

08. Brandon Rogers sang Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.

How I think they did: The song was dedicated to the right person. It just wasn’t … good. It did not wow me.

I agree with Simon on replay.

My Order (This week: 10) (Last week: 11)

09. Chris Richardson sang Geek in the Pink by Jason Mraz.

How I think they did: I like this song from Mraz, This rendition is pretty good actually. He needs new moves.

I agree with All three on replay.

My Order (This week: 4) (Last week: 5)

10. Jason “Sundance” Head sang Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett.

How I think they did: WOW, that was awesome!!! He is back!

I agree with Randy on replay.

My Order (This week: 2) (Last week: 9)

The guys did well tonight, but they could still do better. After the show was “Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader” which was awesome! I knew all the answers except one. Tomorrow, more Idol and 5th Grader.

Fifth Grader was great!!!  This is the show that delayed GR2 by the way, folks.  Fox wanted Mark Burnett Productions to push it through, and I think they have a real winner on their hands.  ALMOST makes it worth the wait!

I agree with Scoutmom in that 5th Grader will be a success.
Imagine, Jeff Foxworthy as a game show host! Not easy to remember those questions, is it? They taped an iinitial 8 episodes with probably more to come. Not too late to try out as a contestant.

Okay, to everyone who has been asking:

No, nothing yet on whether or not more episodes have been ordered.  Which means also no information on trying out for the show.  But I promise you as soon as I have official word, I will share!!
