So I decided to skip out on blogging for the weekend but that turned out to be a bad decision. That means I have a lot to talk about tonight. Here goes nothing!!

I have two notes to post on before the dish begins. The first one is you can now click on the link to the right and send me suggestions on article for the dish or comments, questions excreta.

I also wanted to ask what Joe Napalm asked on his blog Friday. Who are my regulars (readers who read all the time, or just today) It is really cool seeing who all reads this stuff I work on forever for you to read.

A true loss to Radio…

This is a tribute article from wkdd.com to Jaybird Drennan. He will be missed by all in Ohio.

Legendary WSLR-AM radio personality Jaybird Drennan, is dead at 78.

Mr. Drennan hosted a daily program on 1350am WSLR (now 1350am Radio Free Ohio) for 27 years. For many his “Howdy Partner” greeting was the first voice heard each morning.

Mr. Drennan had been in a coma since the middle of last week after collapsing outside a local shopping center. He died one day after his 78th birthday.

The loss of Jaybird is being felt within the Akron broadcast community. "There are many broadcasters on the air in Akron who had the unique opportunity to be an understudy of Jay, and there was no finer teacher" said Clear Channel Director of Programming Operations Keith Kennedy. "He was a gifted broadcaster who made every listener his friend. It was never forced. He was a wonderful human being and it came thru over the radio or when you met him in person". 10 years after his retirement, a photo of Mr. Drennan and plaque with a golden star next to the WSLR logo still hangs in the lobby of the 1350 studios.
Of his on air delivery, The Akron Beacon Journal said “if God his own self were to come down and pay you a visit, He probably would sound a whole lot like Jerry William Drennan”. During Jaybird’s 27 years as morning drive air personality for WSLR in Akron, Ohio, he pioneered Country radio in Ohio and paved the way for successful Country stations in Akron and Cleveland. He has been called the best known and best loved personality the market has ever seen.
Born December 9, 1928, he grew up as the son of a sharecropper on peanut farms in Texas and New Mexico. He worked at stations in markets in those states including Tucumcari, Clovis, Hereford, Perryton, and Lubbock before moving on to Colorado Springs, Colorado and Turlock, California.
1350 WSLR-AM was Northeast Ohio's First Country radio station. Today 1350 is 1350am Radio Free Ohio, a progressive  talk radio station. 1350 is part of the Clear Channel Akron/Canton Radio Group including: 98.1 WKDD, 640am WHLO, 1350am Radio Free Ohio.

Prince to Play Super Bowl Halftime Show…

Pop star Prince will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl XLI in Miami, the NFL has announced.

The six-time Grammy Award winner is the third Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member in a row to get the Super Bowl halftime show gig -- following Paul McCartney in 2005 and Mick Jagger earlier this year.

Honestly, I don’t care.

 

American Idol Performer Yamin Upgrades Teeth…

I usually stay away from the tabloids but I think this one is legit.

American Idol third-place winner Elliott Yamin has a new set of choppers to go along with his new songwriting deal, thanks to a California dentist.

Yamin received some $50,000 in porcelain veneers and other dental work during 20 hours in the dental chair of Dr. Davie Frey of Beverly Hills, who provided his expertise gratis, and found that the painful efforts were well worth it to put the beatific smile on his face.

I can see it now. Michael Rihards is going to put out a book and a tv interview about this. Olivia Newton-John is suing record label Universal Music Group, claiming she is owed more than $1 million in royalties from sales of the soundtrack from her hit movie 'Grease.'

Is it just me, or is he starting to look old?

Chan was injured on the Rush Hour 3 set. He was hit with a steel-reinforced wooden table just months after he was kicked in the same place while shooting “Rob-B-Hood”.

Fortunately, no bones were broken.

David Letterman Staying With CBS Till 2010…

This guy is looking old to me.

"Late Show" fans can relax because host David Letterman says he's staying with the New York-based show at least through the fall of 2010.
The network announced Monday that Letterman finalized a deal to stay on with CBS that will last one year longer than NBC's deal with Jay Leno, who has said he will turn over the reins of The Tonight Show with the Jay Leno to Conan O'Brien in 2009.

 

Eddie Murphy Ditches Scary Spice and Demands DNA Test…

Hollywood star Eddie Murphy has ditched his Spice Girl lover Mel B and is demanding a DNA test to prove he is the father of her unborn child.

The actor made the astonishing claims in an interview, broadcast Monday night, with Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard to promote his new film 'Dreamgirls' - just a day after the singer claimed the couple was looking forward to spending Christmas together.

When asked if he was happy with Mel, who revealed she was pregnant last month, Murphy snapped back, "You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

The hotel heiress was set to co-host the ceremony with new best pal Britney Spears, but the singer backed out of her role on Thursday - just hours after the announcement was made.

Prison Break actor Lane Garrison was involved in a car accident late Saturday night, which killed a 17 year old boy and injured two other teenagers.

Garrison, who plays Tweener in the hit show, was inside his SUV when it crashed into a tree in Beverly Hills.

Well the weekend is over I am afraid. Went fast too. Got my tree up today and decorated it. We also put the rest of the decorations and had that annual fight with my sister. Oh what fun it is to decorate at my house!! But besides that, Here is what I scrapped together for a dish.

L.A. Man Charged With Threatening Celebs…

A man from Los Angeles was charged with sending letters containing a white powder to a list of celebrities and politicians.

What a freak!!

The US Attorney’s Office said that Chad Castagana (the new Osama) was picked up by a federal terrorism task force and charged with mailing the alleged threats to Dave Letterman, Keith Olbermann and Jon Stewart as well as Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif just to name a few.

 

New Mom Jennifer Garner Gets Back in Shape…

Motherhood has been a tough mountain to climb for U.S. television star Jennifer Garner, who says she's in disastrous shape and just dies looking in the mirror.

Garner told Elle magazine that she's been toiling with a trainer to get back into fighting trim following the birth of her and husband Ben Affleck's daughter, Violet.

The yellow wiggle (Greg Page) is leaving the band for health related issues. For those of you who don’t know who the Wiggles are, they are the latest thing since Barney I guess you could put it.

My only questions is who is going to replace Greg?

The guy on the radio said that he and his family (they have a young son who loves the Wiggles) went to see the Wiggles Live and Greg wasn’t looking good at the show. I figured it was only time when we would be hearing of this great, great loss.
