UPDATE: Conan says no to 12:05 AM Tonight Show
12 January 10 04:17 PM | Zach | 3 comment(s)

Below is Conan O'Brien's statement about moving the Tonight Show to 12:05 AM instead of 11:35 which has been it's timeslot since the show started way back when. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a long battle! Hopefully FOX smarts up and picks up Conan for their network!

People of Earth:

In the last few days, I’ve been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I’ve been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I’ve been absurdly lucky. That said, I’ve been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.

But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.

Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn’t the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.

Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it’s always been that way.

Yours,

Conan

1-12 Dish: Simon Cowell will leave 'Idol' at the end of the season
12 January 10 08:00 AM | Zach | with no comments

So as this season of Idol comes to a close, I think we will be losing a great judge and the show all together... There's gonna be no show without Cowell.

"American Idol" judge Simon Cowell said on Monday he was leaving the top-rated Fox TV show at the end of his contract in May 2010.
Cowell told TV reporters in Los Angeles that he would be launching his own The X Factor" singing competition show on News Corp's Fox in 2011.
"American Idol," whose 9th season opens on Tuesday, is the most-watched TV show the United States.
"I am confident it will continue to be the No.1 show," Cowell said.

Fox renews 'Glee' for a second season...
Fox says it has picked up its music-themed drama series "Glee" for a second season.
"We've loved 'Glee' ever since it was a pilot script, so it's been an incredible thrill to watch the show take root and see audiences embrace these characters in such a huge way this season," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly as saying. "The show is a true and rare gem in television."
Season 1 of "Glee," co-starring Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, is scheduled to continue April 13 after a brief hiatus, the entertainment trade newspaper said.

REPORT: Woods' alleged mistress lands TV project...

A woman who alleges she had an affair with shamed golf star Tiger Woods is extending her 15 minutes of fame - by teaming up with another self-proclaimed "mistress" for a new TV project.
Jamie Jungers came forward last year with allegations the sports star seduced her at a party in 2005 and subsequently struck up an illicit 18-month affair with her.
She is now said to be making plans with Sarah Symonds, who went public with her own claims of an affair with British TV chef Gordon Ramsay last year, for a TV project to help women stuck in "bad relationships with married men."

NBC in embarrising retreat on primetime Leno show...
NBC retreated on Sunday from its controversial bid to shake up prime time television, saying it was "going back to basics" with traditional dramas and comedies to try to rebuild audiences and its reputation.
Once mighty NBC, now at the bottom of the four leading networks, announced it was dropping "The Jay Leno Show" in February from its 10 p.m. lineup after just four months because of pressure from local affiliates.
NBC said it had given the go-ahead to pilots for six new scripted dramas and two new comedies for the 2010-2011 season starting in September. They include shows from Emmy-award winners David E. Kelley and Jerry Bruckheimer.
The network has struggled in recent years to find a break-out hit to replace 1990s crowd-pleasers like "Seinfeld," "Friends" and "ER" at a time when traditional TV is losing audiences to videogames and social networking sites.
"Right now, instead of trying to reinvent, we are going back to basics," NBC Universal television entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin told reporters.
"I almost don't care how quickly it happens, as long as it happens," Gaspin said of his goal to improve the network's lineup. "As long as I see an hour going up (in the ratings) instead of going to the side or down, I'll be happy."

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean is engaged...
Backstreet vocalist A.J. McLean proposed to his girlfriend, Rochelle Deanna, while celebrating his birthday at a Las Vegas nightclub, a bystander says.
An eyewitness, whose identity was not released, said the 32-year-old singer made the proposal on a stage at the Hard Rock Hotel's Wasted Space nightclub on Friday night, People.com reported Saturday.
"He got up on stage and the DJ turned the music off. He asked her to come up on stage and he got down on his knee and she squatted down with him," the eyewitness said. "He asked her and she said yes and hugged him. He took the ring out of his pocket and put it on her hand."
An unidentified source told People magazine that McLean purchased the engagement ring used in Friday night's proposal at the hotel's jewelry store mere hours before the nightclub visit.

This is the format of your new Dish! Every day, there will be an opener post that will give you a random story, then at 8 AM, your regular dish post will be up! The Dish will contain between 5-10 celebrity related stories, that's not much different. A few of the stories will also include a graphic. I will also post breaking news updates when I'm near a computer. Each story will be around 2-3 paragraphs long but will sometimes be extended pieces.  Enjoy!

Official says no charge yet against Jackson doctor...
The Los Angeles prosecutor's office on Friday said it has not yet decided whether to charge Michael Jackson's doctor with a crime in the pop singer's sudden death by cardiac arrest last June.
"We have nothing pending. No decision has been made and nothing has been filed," said a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. She declined further comment.
Earlier on Friday, celebrity website TMZ.com cited unnamed law enforcement sources as saying Los Angeles police concluded their final investigation in late December and would send their findings to the Los Angeles district attorney within weeks to determine whether to file criminal charges.

'Hannah Montana' to end with Season 4...
A Disney representative says the upcoming fourth season of the comedy series "Hannah Montana," starring Miley Cyrus, will be its last.
"You never know in this business ... but right now, we're scheduled to wrap after shooting this new batch of episodes," Disney Channel Worldwide programming executive Adam Bonnett said in a statement issued to MTV News. "The (new) episodes will continue to roll out at least over a full year."
MTV said production on the final season of the show is to begin Jan. 18 and is slated to continue throughout the summer. Season 4's episodes are to start airing in the spring.

Jersey Shore cast gets classy...
Is it just me or does this show sound completely annoying?
The cast of MTV's Jersey Shore posed for a socialite-style photo shoot at New York City's Ritz-Carlton Hotel for In Touch Weekly.

Female acts will rule again in 2010...
No two lists are the same, but as pop pundits gaze into their crystal balls at the start of a new decade it is single female acts who look destined for the top, at the expense of indie bands.
Emboldened by the success in 2009 of flamboyant Lady Gaga, YouTube sensation Susan Boyle and country star Taylor Swift, and the likes of Amy Winehouse and Duffy before them, women are being backed to eclipse the bands once again in 2010.
"The 'Gaga effect' is going to continue in the next year and you can already see more artistic, edgy female pop acts," said Albert Schilcher, vice president of talent and music at MTV Networks International.
"Indie acts are suffering somewhat," he told Reuters. "That's not to say there can't be another great indie band, but not a lot of them are being signed (by labels) at the moment," said Schilcher, who also predicted a resurgence in dance music.

Jay Leno to take back old timeslot...
NBC plans to return Jay Leno to late-night, ending his prime time show and pushing "The Tonight Show" to a later time slot, a network executive said.
The move is motivated primarily by lackluster ratings for "The Jay Leno Show" in prime time and unhappiness among NBC affiliates with the effect that is having on ratings for their late local news shows, The New York Times reported Thursday. Plans call for NBC to air a 30-minute version of "The Jay Leno Show" at 11:35 p.m. each weeknight, followed by "The Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brien, which would retain its current run time of one hour, the newspaper said.
Citing an NBC executive who did not wish to be identified, the Times said network officials have discussed the plan with both performers and an agreement had basically been reached -- although representatives of Leno and O'Brien were still working out details of the change. No timetable has been agreed to, but the report said the new lineup could go on the air after NBC wraps up its coverage of the Winter Olympics at the end of February.
The network will pre-empt regular prime time and late-night programming during its two weeks of Olympics coverage.

I'll probably post later today if Conan decides to walk. If he does, rumor has it that he will go to Fox which would be a good move for both Conan and Fox alike.

Lil Wayne album still due February 2, label insists...
After online reports suggested that Lil Wayne's oft-delayed "Rebirth" album was once again delayed, this time to June 22nd, the rapper's publicist said the rock-leaning set is still scheduled for a February 2 release.
About 500 copies of "Rebirth" -- which has received six different release dates starting April 7, 2009 -- were last month mistakenly shipped to Amazon customers who pre-ordered the album. Inevitably, it leaked on the Internet.
Consequently, "Rebirth," which will be available just a week before Lil Wayne is sentenced in New York for possession of a weapon on February 9, is now said to include all new tracks, according to Mack Maine, the president of Lil Wayne's Young Money label, who last month tweeted: "Leaked 09 Rebirth isn't going to be 2010 Rebirth."

Welcome to The Dish 2010!
11 January 10 06:53 AM | Zach | with no comments

Welcome to the Dish! It's now a new decade and I'm sure that our favorite celebrities will be sleazier than ever!  I'm FINALLY able to get back on a regular schedule because I dont have an early morning class... Last semester I was starting at 7:45, this time I'm starting at 8:50 which leaves me plenty of time to Dish!!

So how was the second half of 2009 for you? Me? I started going to a personal trainer... I was going to keep it a secret until this summer but yeah I am Smile Oh... dont ask if I've lost anything.... holiday setbacks stink...

Before I start the post, I heard a story on the radio this AM that was completely disgusting! Have to share it with you. Because of this story, I will never again use the self serve fountain drink stations.

(From CNN.com) It fizzes. It quenches. And it could also contain fecal bacteria.

Nearly half of the 90 beverages from soda fountain machines in one area in Virginia tested positive for coliform bacteria -- which could indicate possible fecal contamination, according to a study published in the January issue of International Journal of Food Microbiology.

Researchers also detected antibiotic-resistant microbes and E.coli in the soda samples.

"Certainly we come in contact with bacteria all the time," Renee Godard, lead author of the study and professor of biology and environmental studies at Hollins University, a private liberal arts college in Roanoke, Virginia. "It's simply that some bacteria may potentially cause some disease or gastrointestinal distress. One thing we hesitate with is that people get afraid of bacteria. Many of them are benign or helpful, but certainly, I don't want E.coli in my beverage."

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's drinking-water regulations require that all samples test negative for E.coli.

Many of the soda beverages from the dispensers fell below U.S. drinking-water standards, according to the findings.

"The large number of beverages and soda fountain machines containing E. coli is still of considerable concern... and suggests that more pathogenic strains of bacteria could persist and thrive in soda fountain machines if introduced," the authors wrote.

Godard and her colleagues acquired 90 beverages of three types, (sugar soda, diet soda, water) from 30 fast food restaurants in a 22-mile area near Roanoke, in southern Virginia. They surveyed beverages from both self-service and employee-dispensed machines and the samples were tested.

There were no reported outbreaks of food-borne illness related in the Roanoke area at the time of the study.

They found that 48 percent of beverages obtained from soda fountains contained coliform bacteria, 11 percent contained E. coli (which are mostly harmless, but some can cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illness and pneumonia), and 17 percent had Chryseobacterium meningosepticum (which could sicken newborns or adults with weakened immune systems).

Dean Cliver, professor of food safety emeritus at University of California Davis, said it would be premature to draw broad conclusions about all soda fountains from a localized study.

"How sanitation regulations are promulgated and enforced in a community are different," Cliver said. "Some communities are more on to it than others. How much of a threat it represents? It's probably limited. Once again, it's a matter of what regulations are in place, who pays attention and whether it's being followed."

The samples were contained in petri dishes and the bacteria multiplied within 48 hours, so much so that they became visible to the naked eye as 300 to 400 tiny dots, Godard said.

A Hollins undergraduate microbiology student accidentally discovered that water from a restaurant beverage dispenser contained bacteria while completing a homework assignment. When the results came back, this piqued the interest of faculty and students.

The researchers are uncertain how the bacteria got inside the beverage machines.

"It could be from dispensing with a hand that wasn't clean or using wet rags to wipe down the machine," Godard said. "We haven't done the work to really identify those potential sources and how these bacteria get established."

Manitowoc Foodservice, one of the leading manufacturers of ice and beverage equipment, did not have the opportunity to review the study, but released this statement in response to CNN.com's questions: "We emphasize in our product support material proper methods for and the importance of frequent, thorough cleaning and sanitizing of foodservice equipment. In food equipment as in any environment where microorganisms can occur naturally or be spread by contact, it is essential to follow proven steps for cleaning and sanitizing."

The National Restaurant Association, a business association for the restaurant industry, e-mailed this statement in response to the findings: "While the results of this study are disconcerting, we feel that it isn't representative of our industry and that our guests can safely enjoy beverages from dispensers and single-serve containers alike."

The American Beverage Association made this statement: "Fountain beverages are safe. Consumers can rest assured that our industry's fountain beverages pose no public health risk." The organization, which represents hundreds of beverage producers, distributors, and franchise companies stated that "Importantly, our industry meets, and often exceeds, all government health standards in bringing its products to market."

Whether other outbreaks have occurred because of contaminated soda machines is difficult to determine, because food-related illnesses are notoriously challenging to pinpoint, Godard said.

According to the research literature, one study has linked a 1998 outbreak to soda fountains after 99 soldiers in a U.S. Army base were hospitalized with gastroenteritis.

Although ice can become contaminated, researchers ruled it out as the source of contamination after testing revealed that it did not contain coliform bacteria.

Isn't that gross!! Alright, stay tuned, your dish will be up at 8 AM EST!

Black November: A Turkey's Lament
26 November 09 08:10 AM | Zach | with no comments

Just thought I'd share a Thanksgiving tale... Winter break is coming! And I should be back full swing then :)

When I was a young turkey, new to the coop,
My big brother Mike took me out on the stoop,

Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow,
And he told me there was something that I had to know;

His look and his tone I will always remember,
When he told me of the horrors of ..... Black November;

"Come about August, now listen to me,
Each day you'll be thick, where once you were thin,
And you'll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin.

"And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed,
In'll burst the farmer's wife, and hack off your head;

"Then she'll pluck out all your feathers so you're bald'n pink,
And scoop out all your insides and leave ya lyin' in the sink,

"And then comes the worst part" he said not bluffing,
"She'll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing".

Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat,
I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat,

And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked,
I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked;

I began a new diet of nuts and granola,
High-roughage salads, juice and diet cola,

And as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes,
I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes,

I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half,
And tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed;

But 'twas I who was laughing, under my breath,
As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death;

And sure enough when Black November rolled around,
I was the last turkey left in the entire compound;

So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap;
I haven't a worry, so I eat and I nap,

She held me today, while sewing and humming,
And smiled at me and said "Christmas is coming..."

Scary story...

2008: 8.3 Million Had thoughts of suicide

More than 8 million U.S. adults, or 3.7 percent of the U.S. adult population, had serious thoughts of committing suicide in the past year.
Friday, September 18, 2009

(UPI) - More than 8 million U.S. adults, or 3.7 percent of the U.S. adult population, had serious thoughts of committing suicide in the past year, researchers say.

The study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also shows that 2.3 million adult Americans made a suicide plan in the past year. In addition, 1.1 million adults had actually attempted suicide in the past year, the study says.

The 2008 data was drawn from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, which obtained responses from 46,190 people aged 18 or older.

Young adults ages 18-25 were far more likely to have seriously considered suicide in the past year than those age 26-49 and nearly three times more likely than those ages 50 or older.

People experiencing substance abuse disorders within the past year were more than three times as likely to have seriously considered committing suicide as those who had not experienced a substance abuse disorder.

Those with past year substance abuse disorders were also four times more likely to have planned a suicide than those without substance abuse disorders, and nearly seven times more likely to have attempted suicide.

The study also revealed that adult females had marginally higher levels of suicidal thoughts and behaviors than males in the past year.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK.

BREAKING NEWS: Patrick Swayze dies at age 57
14 September 09 08:28 PM | Zach | with no comments

---From TMZ---

Patrick Swayze died today after a long battle with cancer. He was 57.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. His publicist says he died with his family at his side.

He was the star of such movies as "Ghost," "Dirty Dancing," and "Road House." Swayze was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

---From E! News---

Johnny Castle. Sam Wheat. Fighter.

Patrick Swayze, the movie star whose iconic roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost transcended, and the man whose perseverance in the face of advanced cancer inspired, died today in Los Angeles. He was 57.

"One thing I'm not gonna do is chase staying alive," Swayze told Barbara Walters in January. "You spend so much time chasing staying alive, you won't live."

At the time, Swayze guessed he had two more years to live.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2008. Despite the gloom and doom of initial tabloid reports, Swayze went on to star in the A&E cop drama The Beast.

Not one to sugarcoat the toll the disease took on him, Swayze told Walters the show’s summer 2008 shoot was hell.

By the third episode in, at one point I didn't know if I was gonna finish this thing and I thought I'd made a big mistake," Swayze said. "It just made me angry at myself though."

Days before the Walters interview premiered, Swayze was hospitalized with pneumonia. He was released within a week, and announced plans to write a memoir with his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi. The book was due this fall.

"I will write from my heart about these experiences and, aside from the sheer pleasure of doing it, if people happen to garner inspiration from it, or incentive, or find a new way to love, it would be wonderful," Swayze said in May. The statement was issued shortly after a radio-fueled Internet death rumor prompted the never-say-die actor to declare himself "alive and well."

Born Aug. 18, 1952, in Houston, Swayze was in his 30s, and already something of a familiar face when he swiveled his hips to leading-man stardom in 1987’s Dirty Dancing.

As Johnny Castle, the dangerous dance instructor from the Catskills who romances rich-girl pupil, Baby, Swayze was able to showcase the moves that had been drilled into him since he was a boy, growing up as the son of Patsy Swayze, the choreographer of John Travolta's Urban Cowboy and other films.

Dirty Dancing became a sleeper hit, and made brand names of Swayze, Jennifer Grey and choreographer Kenny Ortega. Swayze even scored a hit single, "She's Like the Wind," off the movie's blockbuster soundtrack.

Swayze had a bit in the franchise's belated 2004 sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, but for the most part expanded his repertoire beyond the dance floor. He knocked heads as Dalton the bouncer in 1989's Road House, a beloved, if critically dismissed, popcorn picture, protected Demi Moore from beyond the grave as the slain Sam Wheat in 1990's Ghost, his biggest box-office hit, and surfed withKeanu Reeves in the 1991 caper film, Point Break.

In 1992, Swayze went for Oscar gold as an American doctor working in the slums of India in City of Joy. But the film was a commercial and critical disappointment, and Swayze's film career never really recovered. Still, he continued to work, through good times and bad.

In 2002, Swayze, a longtime pilot, walked away from a crash of his Cessna 414 in Arizona. Witnesses said the actor seemed impaired, and asked them to help dispose of an opened bottle of wine. The National Transportation Safety Board found that Swayze had possibly been made loopy by carbon monoxide gasses.

Other credits include: The Outsiders, Red Dawn, and To Won Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, the drag-queen comedy-drama that brought Swayze a Golden Globe nomination. The Beast, during which Swayze made his last stand on screen, was canceled in June, after one season.

9-10 Dish: Ellen DeGeneres the new Ryan Seacrest...

Ok, the only reason she's the new Ryan Seacrest is she does sooo much! She hosts her show and will now be judging on American Idol! My question is about these "guest judges" that we've heard about all summer! Are we going to have to sit through FIVE judges? Performances would have to be cut as well...

09/09/09 Dish: Surviving Bee Gees plan to reunite for live shows
09 September 09 09:09 AM | Zach | with no comments

Kinda busy this AM! So here's the low down for your dish today...

Jon says he despises Kate...
Reality television personality Jon Gosselin said in an interview he despises his soon-to-be-ex-wife, Kate.
The estranged couple, who star alongside their eight children in the TLC series "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," announced during the summer their plans to divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage. Jon has since been photographed at clubs, bars and celebrity events and spotted with his 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman.
Usmagazine.com said Jon told ABC News his relationship with Kate is so tense they have to tape their segments for the show separately.
"I can't sit on the sofa with that woman," he said. "I can't sit with someone right now that I despise. ... I despise (her) because she's not speaking from the heart... Please -- the stuff you tell me in private should be the stuff you tell me on TV."

Beatles re-master, game drag band into digital age...
The Beatles take a step closer to selling their music online on Wednesday with the simultaneous release of the band's re-mastered catalog and the MTV video game The Beatles: Rock Band.
The Beatles collection, available from 09/09/09, is expected to dominate the charts in key markets like the United States and Britain, bringing a windfall to the group's label EMI Music and the Fab Four's company Apple Corps Ltd.
Retailers who have seen physical music sales eroded over recent years are also gearing up for queues around the block for both the CDs and the video game, an added bonus after Michael Jackson's death in June saw a spike in sales.

9-8 Dish: Wal-Mart setting up 'Kiss Korners'
08 September 09 05:04 AM | Zach | with no comments

Didja have a nice long weekend? I did, I think! Few things on my list of stuff to talk about this AM... My new website is up! Go check it out at www.z-toc.com! I spent some good hours over the past few weeks making it the way I think I should have it so it should be this way for quite a long time.

Second, I started a post late Sunday night with the list of all TV Premiere shows this fall, I've been updating it constantly as I get new information via promos and websites... Believe it or not, NBC's website and their Promos are sometimes different... So here's the link to that post if you want to read up about your favorite fall shows!

And lastly, on Twitter last night, I saw a Trending Topic that read "Trapped Girls" Normally I wouldn't have clicked, but I kinda wanted to know what was up... Just, uh, read the story:

This could be great cause for concern - two girls, 10 and 12 years old, were trapped in a storm drain in Adelaide, Australia.  Instead of calling 000 (the Australian equivalent of 911), they updated their facebook page.  This situation worries authorities because people are so used to communicating via social media, they don't even think of using conventional emergency channels, which would be much faster in situations where seconds count.

Fortunately, a friend saw the update on Facebook and called for help. Since they could send a message to Facebook, the girls should have been able to use their telephone to call the emergency number.

I'll let you mingle about that one... Here's the Dish!

Tila Tequila accuses linebacker of attacking her...
San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested Sunday on battery and false imprisonment charges in an alleged attack on his girlfriend, police said.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said Merriman's girlfriend, former MTV reality show star Tila Tequila, alleged Merriman choked her, threw her to the ground and restrained her when she tried to leave his home around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, The San Diego-Union Tribune reported. Merriman, 25, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, was released about 11 a.m. Sunday, the newspaper said.
"It's disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman," Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith said in a statement. "We'll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course."

Wal-Mart setting up 'KISS Korners'...
Wal-Mart says it is adding "KISS Korners," featuring T-shirts, makeup and wigs inspired by the band, in all of its stores.
The line of merchandise is in honor of the planned Oct. 6 release of the iconic rock group's new CD/DVD "Sonic Boom."
The "KISS Korners" are to be located in the stores' Electronics departments and Halloween aisles next month. Limited edition KISS M&M candies and KISS Mr. Potato Head spuds of all four band members are also to be sold through Halloween.
"It has been both fun and an honor to work with the band and celebrate with fans the new music release and album tour," Wal-Mart spokesman Greg Hall said in a statement.

LeAnn Rimes and husband divorcing...
Country music star LeAnn Rimes announced on her Web site Tuesday that she and her husband have decided to divorce after seven years of marriage.
"After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage," Rimes said in a statement on her Web site, referring to her husband, former backup dancer Dean Sheremet.
"This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another. Thank you so much for all of your continued love and support -- it is deeply appreciated," Rimes said.

When I first read that story (the one I'm referring to in the title up there), I immediately thought of how much dead air they'd be playing Wink

Paula Abdul considering her own talk show...
Former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul says she hopes to have her own television chat show some day.
Abdul announced last month she would not return to the singing competition series next season because she and the show's producers couldn't agree on her contract. The announcement has created a swirl of rumors about what Abdul's next project will be.
"I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different," Abdul told TV Guide.

SHOCKING VIDEO: Boy cries tears of blood...
No idea why this is in the "Celeb news" section on my source site but this video creeps me out!! Doctors have no ideas why this happens...

Shania Twain tells fans she's moved on, after split...
Country singer Shania Twain is feeling like a woman again, returning to the spotlight with a new man by her side after her marriage broke up last year.
Twain, 44, separated from her husband of 14 years, record producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, just over a year ago after he had an affair, ending a highly lucrative partnership in which Lange produced the Canadian star's three blockbuster albums.
But after largely disappearing from the public eye for a year, Twain is back, set to appear as a guest judge on television singing contest "American Idol" during auditions this week.
In a letter addressed to fans on her website, which is accompanied by a video, Twain said she spent the past year traveling, reading, sharing time with her son 8-year-old Eja, and "concentrating on moving on and forward."
"I hit a very big bump in the road," said Twain, whose marriage broke down after her husband was reported to be having an affair with longtime secretary and manager of the couple's Swiss chateau, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.
9-1 Dish: 'Today' show hires Jenna Bush Hager...
01 September 09 05:25 AM | Zach | with no comments

For the next few weeks, the Dish posts are probably going to be a wee bit shorter than they should be... I could blame it on the economy but that would be lying... I'm actually working on a redesign of my website and I'm pretty proud of it so far! You'll get a sneak preview in a few days!

'Today' show hires Jenna Bush Hager...
Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, has been hired as a contributing correspondent for the "Today" show, NBC said.
Hager -- a teacher, author and young leadership ambassador and chairwoman for UNICEF's Next Generation committee -- will be based in Washington and will cover a variety of human interest and feature stories for the popular morning news program, the network said.

REPORT: DJ AM's death not suicide...
Investigators are categorizing DJ AM's death in New York last week as an accidental drug overdose, not a suicide, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein), a celebrity disc jockey, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment Friday. He was 36.
An autopsy conducted the following day proved inconclusive. Officials said a cause of death will not be announced until toxicology and other tests are reviewed.

8-31 Dish: Hrm... Nothing happened this weekend huh?
31 August 09 05:21 AM | Zach | with no comments

This AM I was checking out my internet sources for celeb gossip and it appears that nothing happened this weekend... More information about DJ AM, I think that happened Saturday so I can report on that... More info about Michael Jackson... not worth a slot in this post I'm afraid... Other than that, it was a boring weekend in the Hills...

My weekend wasn't bad Smile. We spend Sunday celebrating my grandpa's 79th birthday. And last night I spent a few hours designing a new z-toc.com... Just in photoshop but I plan on changing it up asap! I'm tired of what I'm using now... lol...

DJ AM found dead in New York Appartment...
NEW YORK (Reuters) - DJ AM, the stage name of disc jockey Adam Goldstein whose music could be heard on albums by Madonna and Will Smith, was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday, police said. He was 36.

Police said no foul play was suspected in the death of Goldstein, who socialized with Hollywood celebrities and in 2008 survived a plane crash with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker.

Media reports said Goldstein was found with prescription pill bottles near his body after he had not been heard from for days.

As a DJ, his work appeared on albums by Madonna, Will Smith, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Papa Roach. He performed at clubs in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and elsewhere.

With the band Crazy Town, Goldstein had the 2001 hit song "Butterfly" but the group broke up two years later.

He partnered with Barker of punk band Blink 182 last year to create a live DJ and drum performance and the duo played occasionally at clubs and other concert venues.

In September 2008, Goldstein and Barker were in a private plane that crashed while taking off from an airport in South Carolina. The two pilots and two passengers were killed.

Goldstein and Barker suffered serious burns and were hospitalized in critical condition.

Goldstein posted his last known public remarks on the social networking website Twitter on Tuesday when he wrote: "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems."

The words were lyrics from a song by Grandmaster Flash, a pioneer of hip-hop music.

Goldstein dated reality TV star Nicole Richie, to whom he was at one point engaged, and later went out with singer and actress Mandy Moore.
