Zach's Progress...

Sandi has asked me numerous times: "I wish you would post more...", "Oh, good stuff! Post that!!"::: to post on the blog and the forums but I keep telling her that I'm too busy exercising to post Stick out tongue. So, I decided with a few minutes on my hand to throw up a forum post about what I've been doing so far.

As of today, I have lost 9 (count em.) 9 lbs! I'm shocked with my progress!! But I can tell you what it is. A combination of my calorie intake and the exercise that I do.

First off, my calorie/nutritional facts...

NUTRIENTS:   GOAL 2/19 2/20 2/21 2/22 2/23 2/24 TODAY
Calories:  2630 - 2980 Add Food 1,176 1,055 1,107 1,137 1,063 465
Fat:  64 - 112 Add Food 37 36 33 41 37 4
Carbohydrates:  324 - 468 Add Food 167 139 165 165 135 85
Protein:  72 - 252 Add Food 49 49 44 36 52 24
Potassium, K:  4500 - 6000 Add Food 1,751 1,505 1,709 725 964 220

Magnesium, Mg:  105 - 175 Add Food 49 42 39 14 25 4

This chart says because of the amount of exercise I do, I should be getting a minimum of 2600 calories. WOW, I dont eat that much before ft club!! The pluses mean I didnt post that day and today's are really low because thats only breakfast. Today, I ate some cereal and skim milk for breakfast. Oh yeah and a banana.

Now, I'm sure you're curious as to where to make a cool, nifty little chart like that Smile www.SparkPeople.com is an awesome site that gives you a nutritional planner PLUS has a water counter (counts the number of glasses of water you drink a day with your input) and also can track your fitness. I strongly recommend this site!! I'm SMEDIA there. If you go to my "SparkPage" you can see my weight progress and my daily food intake...

For the fitness... I go on the tredmill every day. To some of you thats booooring! Well here's what I do to keep me occupied while on the tredmill. I have a Video iPod and on it the game "Phase". This game is like Guitar Hero but its a fast paced game so that there is no time for me to think about what I'm doing. Kinda like a "do or die" game. So, while walking, I forget that I'm walking and pay more attention to the game. Thats where my attention goes on the tredmill and it is the only reason I've been able to get on it for that long a period of time. So, 9 lbs, 105 to go... I'm just begining on the road for this long and wonderful journey!!!

Another change in clothing...

I tried on a pair of shorts (size 42, same size as those pants from a week ago) this morning and I needed a belt. Pretty cool! Just wish the scale would show the same results!

I also eat tons less than before. For instance, I was starving 20 minutes ago. So I grabbed a few chicken (boneless, skinless) tenders, a slice of cheese and some whole wheat bread and made a sandwich. It was very good but made me very full! Just a little sandwich fills me up now?!?! Wooo, whats wrong with that lol. I stopped eating even though I wanted to have some of these chips...

How are things goin with everyone else?

It was cold this morning so I decided to put on some jeans. I grabbed a pair that I couldnt fit into last year and they fit comfortably! That's what I've been waiting for!!! Fit club has really helped me reach my goal. Cant stop now... I want these jeans to "fall off" like the other ones were, I would like to be in the 30's again for jeans. Havent been there for a long time now...

Another Busy weekend

What a weekend! I woke up Saturday, got ready to go out for a while. Headed to the bank, then to the post office. I purchased a PO Box. Then went home and cut the grass. Took about 5 hours. "Wow, must be a big lawn to take that long..." Well, its a big lawn but it was also the first (yeah, I know) cut of the season (I hear a Sheryl Crow song comming on...) so the grass was really tall. I dont have a self propel (I guess thats what you would call it) mower so I have to push it to make it move. But none the less, it was a great workout (espically since we have 3.3 acres)

I weighed myself after mowing, and lost a nice amount of weight. Then dinner came. We had Taco bell for dinner. Oh, it was good. But all the weight I lost from mowing, I gained right back. Went to bed a bit angry with myself.

Got up Sunday morning and re-weighed myself. Lost all the Taco Bell weight and a little more! So I'm glad to see that my metabolism is doing well.

Yesterday, I also had to move some wood, which counted as "Strengthing" exercise on Spark People. Then we found a problem in our downstairs. I "live" next door to the laundry room. Apparently, over night something broke in the piping in the sink. Do you see where I'm going here? So we had water in the laundry room, which went into my room. Spent a few hours cleaning everything out of my closet...

We also have Well water so our softener went off last night. That backed up as well. I slept last night hoping that I didnt have to swim to find my door. Didn't do too bad. Floor wasnt wet by my bed...

Needless to say, I am a bit tired today, but I think I can manage...

There's Still hope!!!
This was an email from Spark People today. Thought I'd share it

Au Bon Pain Cherry Danish
Krispy Kreme Powdered Blueberry-Filled Doughnut

Scroll Down to See The Winner

Which fruit-filled pastry would you eat?

Don't let the fruit fool you on this one, both of these are still sugary pastry traps. But one has significantly fewer calories than the other. Which is it, the Danish, or doughnut? Let this 120-calorie difference help you decide.

  The Low-Cal Winner
Krispy Kreme Blueberry-Filled Doughnut

The blueberry-filled doughnut is lower in calories (288). Au Bon Pain's Danish packs 410 calories into a small pastry with 19 grams of fat (11 of which are the unhealthy, saturated kind). While Krispy Kreme's fat content isn't much better (16 grams), it's also significantly lower in saturated fat, weighing in with 4 grams.

Invest in the Stride Gum stock, I might raise it a few points

So I have been working hard trying to figure out ways to decrease my late night hunger. This has been my main fall back as to why I am not sheding the pounds as I would wish to.

What am I doing about it you ask? Its something I did for lent one year when I gave up evening snacks (and back then I would give something and get something) and I would walk on the tredmill for 15 minutes a day. Lost 20 pounds that way! 20 pounds in 40 days!!! Thats about a half a pound every day. But you're still asking "How'd he do it?" I chewed gum at night. That fought off the craving for food, making my body think that I was eating.

Then I became an adict of gum, but I started to eat at night again and slowly stopped the tredmill. And I gained it all back plus some.

Starting tonight, no more evening snacks, no food after 6:00 PM. Even if dinner is that late, I will find something before then if I have to. Its just me and the gum until 10 PM.

What a weekend!
Well, everything started on Thursday. I started "hard core" work again on Thursday. Thats when they kick my rear with work. Only happens this time of the year. I am a techie (if you didnt know). They had me inventorying. Now, I'm sure you are saying "Whats the problem there?" Well... I was inventorying Projectors and Smart Boards. I would say I got thru about 40 rooms with projectors and smart boards. So, I had to drag a ladder in the room, walk up it, walk back down to get the flashlight, go back up and look at the number, dropped my pen, go back down the ladder, grab pen, and go back up, half way up, the paper fell off the ladder, go back down and get the paper, finally write down the information I need.
Did that for about 2.5 hours Thursday and Friday. Also on Thursday, I went hard core on the Tae Bo too.
Then, this weekend, I decided to change up my diet a bit. I had chicken, chicken and more chicken. I couldnt get enough of it!!! And saw some happy numbers on the scale.
Saturday, I went out and mowed the lawn. Stopped after I finished the front to take a drink, then did half of the back, stopped for a bit to eat dinner, then finished the back. Keep in mind that this is no little lawn... I'd say about 2-3 acres... dont quote me on it. And yes, I was using a push mower, no cheating.
Before I decided on dinner today, I wanted to see how much room I had. Only had 400 calories so I thought I would treat myself to some McDonald's. I had a Snack Wrap and their new Southwest Salad, which I dont recommend... Not my favorite. I like Wendy's salad with chili. mmmmmmmm.
Needless to say, that put me a bit over on cal, fat and sodium. But, eh, I've been WAY under on all that for a week now. Little bit of it wouldnt kill me right? Or will it?

A long, hard weekend

We have a camper (which we are going to sell) that we decided to clean out yesterday. That was a job and a half. Despite the fact that there were dead mice EvErYwHeRe, we finished it yesterday at about 6 pm. I have never cleaned that much in my life!! Wow was it a workout tho...

I did have my cheat day on Saturday. It was my grandma's birthday. We had lasagna to eat and cake for desert. I told myself not to eat the cake but it was way too tempting.

Then I stepped on the scale just to see how bad it was. Needless to say, I did an hour and a half of Tae Bo after that. So I didn't get to bed until about midnight.

Sunday, when we cleaned, I had to have some leftover lasagna. So tonight, I will be working out HARD.

Today was a big day because I switched over to 1% milk. 2 more weeks and I will be on skim... Wish me luck!!

Weigh in was a good day for me
So yesterday we had the weigh in. I did mention in that post about how I told everyone that I didnt lose any weight and how I will continue to do so until the end of Fit Club 1. I do think the main reasons I'm not shereading the pounds like gplash is because I am gaining lots more muscle. And I have to be losing fat because I put a shirt on yesterday that didnt fit me weeks ago. My jeans are also looser. Finally, some good turn around for me!!!

Oh man... I did bad...
Yesterday, I went to the elementary school to do some volunteering at their "Family Night." We were "treated" with pizza and candy galore... I told myself to stay away from the pizza. So I did... for about a half an hour. The candy... pshhhh that was a breeze for the first 20 minutes! I ate about a bowl full of Mike & Ikes (Thats a bit over stated). This was all before 5:00 PM. When I got home, I was starving so I killed the night with some carrots and peanut butter. Tomorrow is the weigh in and there is no way I'm going to be down.

Need some help...

I figured out my problem. Last week, I was home all day all week. So my eating patturns were a bit different. This week, I'm back to getting up at 4:30 AM EST, taking a shower, eating breakfast then leaving at 6:25 AM EST. The next time I eat isnt until 1:00 PM, snack when I get home and dinner between 5:30 and 6:00.

My problem? I cant get GOOD filling food for breakfast. I eat a bowl of cheerios, a piece of fruit and a glass of OJ. After eating that, I'm still starving. Any suggestions?

Alright, whats going on here?
So I've been doing really well with the diet (I hope) and I exercise for about an hour every day, unless I haven't started to sweat yet, then I keep going. But, I stepped on the scale... Nothing's changed! Not a bit. Since day 1. I know muscle weigh's more than fat, don't play that game with me... I'm not lifting weights or anything.

I have a doc's appointment scheduled for sometime later this week to make sure I'm alright. Tonight, I have to go to the elementary school and work a little with the kids, there's going to be pizza... Hopefully, I can avoid it at all costs.

Workout? Who needs to workout when you have walls to knock down?
The past two days, my grandpa and I have been working diligently taking out a wall in our house. I have been doing the bulk of the work... well, I have been taking all the dry wall down and out to the garage. I also had to clean up the ENTIRE kitchen which was no picnic either. I did that and Tae Bo yesterday, but today, it took more time to do everything... bigger mess.
I also did it! I figured out how to fill up on 130 calories! I was STUFFED after dinner. All I had was a serving size of carrots, a tsp of peanut butter, lettuce salad, dressing (low fat, low cal italian) and broccoli.
Hopefully, I can figure out other ways to eat that few of calories for lunch tomorrow...

Hey, whats going on here?
I have been doing well with the workout, I hope and I have been doing well with the diet, I hope. I workout every day (so far) for about an hour doing various things such as crunches and Tae Bo. I have been following the food guide pyramid (which is very hard to do by the way) and I eat TONS of veggies and a few fruits, if I drank any more water, I would have to live in the bathroom. What I'm confused about is the scale has taken a turn for the worse! Instead of losing (like scoutmom), I'm gaining. I went up a pound since the first weigh-in. Whats going on here?

April 10 Journal: Soreness from yesterday's workout

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I worked out more than ever yesterday. I knew I would be sore when I woke up but I didn’t think I would be this sore! I already posted today’s (yesterday’s really) weigh in over here and I have (I think) the most weight to lose. Or at least, want to lose the most. I know for a fact that I wont lose that much weight by the end of the fit club but it will be a pretty nice dent.

Hopefully later today, I will post pictures of my workout routine. Some of the pics look like I’m not doing anything but I really am. Its just the carpet. The diet is going good. I really haven’t had to hold myself back. I did run to the store last night and got some food. I think 4 bags of lettuce will last me thru the weekend. I also got some cheerios and some broccoli. I am not a broccoli fan but I did enjoy this stuff. Alright, I think I am going to get a head start on my workout today.

Thanks for listening!
