After my last post I really thought about what type of competition would motivate me into getting in better shape. There are tons of gyms out there, why not just pay a monthly fee? I did the math and dont think I could afford it. What else is there out there to pay to use that would motivate you to get in shape?
Early on during the day on Friday, I figured it out. This idea is a great competition and there is always room for improvement. During the month of June 2010, I plan on running in a marathon. Not a full marathon, hopefully a local 5k. I want to work my way up from there.
So, June 2010 is a long ways away and I think by that time I'll have lost most of the weight that I plan to lose which would be great. I hope.
I started watching what I eat, counting calories at SparkPeople.com again, and I got on the treadmill yesterday. I'm slowly easing myself into running, and I dont think I'm going to run outside until I feel better about what I look like.
Also, everyday I'm going to take a profile pic of myself so, at the end, I can see the weight falling off. Don't worry, I'll post it here for you all to watch too!
So today? I plan on eating right, sticking to my fitness regimine and start running outside hopefully by this summer. It's going to be a challenge, but I think I'll be able to stick to it.
As for project me, I don't think the name fits the topic, so I will redesign the logo with the new name and put a post on here, hopefully someone out there wil be generous enough to help me get it started!
If you are starting to think it's time to do something, we can talk! I'm constantly at the computer (half my problem if you ask me) I think communication is an essential part of the weight loss process.
As of late, I am constantly searching for motivation to lose weight again. I'm not sure why, but the constant "you lost it before and gained it right back, is it really worth it?" thought pops into my head all the time. I need to find something that honestly says "Get up and do it". Today, I sat here and read through all the 1st fit club posts. I remember having a blast! Same with the second fit club. As I said before, there was motivation up the wall while competing. I didn't do it for the prizes, I did it for me.
So is my motivation the competition? I think it was and I think that's the only motivation I ever had. That leads me to think, "how do people just decide one day to start exercising and bettering themselves without the competition motivation?" Or, is everyone's motivation competition, they just challenge themselves instead of challenging other people. Another thought, did the competition motivation, in the long run, work differently than I thought it did, since I slumped back to my old ways.
If you're reading this, and want to lose weight and have no motivation, what is going through your head? Are we feeling the same thing? Are we alone? Then think, can we work together, us alone people? And How can we do that?
If you're reading this, and are losing weight, what is your motivation? What goes through your head? Did you go through a phase wondering what is your motivation? And think, can we work together, you and me? How?
Motivation is a tricky thing. I am willing to bring back the original Fit Club, more or less the "Biggest Loser" competition we had here, only if you want me to. I want to mix it up a bit, but generally the same as it once was.
If you wish to participate, post here... I would like to have an even number of people, so we can have partners. Weigh-Ins can be posted if everyone wants them to, if you do not want your weight posted online, we could just have the "pounds lost" posted, if that is still too much, we can close in the group of people who wish to participate and just contact via email.
One thing that would be cool in the pairs/groups would be to have constant communication. Last Fit Club, I tried to talk to my partner daily if not more than that. We kept each other in line and helped each other through hard times.
If we do resurect the competition, there will be no prizes, due to the rough economy, the main prize is the new you at the end. There will also not be a set end date. Once we feel we are set on our ways, we can call it the end, but should it really ever end?
I think this all leads me to what I think project me should be about. Everyone needs a buddy when they enter the challenge of weight loss. Maybe project me will allow people to get a partner to work with them online, in a safe community so they have their own competition.
So, that's a lot to think about. If you wish to join me in this "special edition" of Fit Club, feel free to post here, or email me at email@example.com. Also now that project me has a purpose, what do you think?
Ever since I started Fit Club back in April of 2007, I've thought about how to make it more personal. Obviously posting everyone's weight online and watch as the pounds fall worked once, but not twice. After the second attempt at the Fit Club, I gave up thinking about it for a while. Sandi approached me at the beginning of last year with one of the best Fit Club ideas. She ran a successful Fit Club for the full 10 week period. During that time, I developed the, what is now under construction, Fit Show as a partnership with the club.
The Fit Show was up and running until the end of 2008, but is not gone forever! I have hopes to get the website 100% complete, up and running next week with a few more integrated features for the Fit Shop and such. The newly designed Fit Show website looks a lot like the current www.z-toc.com look. There has also been a slight change in format and such. But all this is besides the point.
Recently, at home, we decided to start working on getting everyone more fit. Being that I've been involved with a lot of the fitness community and have had access to great amounts of nutrition information, I've been helping everyone get their ducks in a row. We are all consulting our doctors about this lifestyle change to get things confirmed safe. I'm having a problem though---I have no motivation to lose weight. What do I need to use as a motivator this time around? In the past, I've had competition on my side. Since I live with the people I'm competiting against, I know I can already do a billion times more than anyone else, so what's the point?
If you read the dish, you probably saw that I posted last night about me possibly being late for the American Idol blog post due to a job interview. I think last night is where I found my inspiration.
Ya see, when I put my dress pants on, they almost didn't button. I had worn these pants to my graduation, not even a full year ago. All my clothes are starting to get tight, I've been noticing. College really does take a toll on your body in a negative way. After I laid back on my bed struggling to get these pants to button, I tried to put my shirt on. I was afraid I was going to pop a button off during the interview because the shirt was tight!
I realized then that it was time that I really started to put a focus on exercise.
So what is this project me all about? It's a project that I need your help with. I thought of a name and have an idea for a concept, but I don't want to start putting anything together until we can all decide that it's a good one.
Project Me is a personal fitness program that I hope will put you to the test. It sort of destroy's the whole competition aspect of the Fit Club and Fit Show (even though the Fit Show isn't going anywhere) in that no one compares each other, you are your own competition. I do not have anymore information other than that at this time, I really want to take some time to sit and write out a good plan that is easy to stick to and have some nice insentives as well.
Thanks for listening to this rant, please leave some thoughts about what you think project me should be. Obviously this is in early planning stages right now.
