A Little Bit of a Bunch of Stuff
Just a few random thoughts on the world of sports:
BASEBALL
After treating Joe Torre like dirt – hey great job you’ve
done managing the team, how about you make LESS money – they have decided to
offer the manager job to…
No, not Don Mattingly the obvious choice. They are offering the job to Joe
Girardi. Huh.
Oh, and A-Rod can’t stand the Yankees. Of course, he chose to skip going to Game 4
of the World Series to receive an award from Hank Aaron because of a “family
commitment”, but he could steal the Red Sox thunder by letting the world know
his feelings during that game. And
despite what rumors may be out there swirling around, I do NOT believe the Cubs
will even give him a half-serious glance.
Look to the Angels, Dodgers or Detroit Tigers to pick him up.
Speaking of the World Series – no, winning twice in 4 years
is NOT a dynasty.
FOOTBALL
My poor Chicago Bears are in pitiful shape this year. But it’s not really surprising. They were an average team that caught some
breaks last year in a division that’s mediocre at best. They have a bye week next week. The bye week is a 4 point favorite. Ba-dump-ching!
NASCAR
Jimmie Johnson seems bound and determined to win the Nextel
Cup this year – and he showed it in yesterday’s race. He’s closed to within 9 points of Jeff
Gordon. But watch out for Clint Bowyer. He’s 111 points back and is aiming to be a
spoiler in the Hendricks Motor Sport love fest.
Guess that’s about it for now.
How are your teams faring?
