Top 10 Things a Cubs Fan Doesn't Want to Hear

 10.  So, how's that curse thing working out for you?
   9.  Ninety-nine years?  Why not wait for a nice even number?
   8.  So, what WAS Lou thinking, pulling Zambrano out after 85 pitches?
   7.  You know, if you had a "real" team...
   6.  What'd you expect, after all you guys are National League Central!
   5.  Choke!
   4.  Betcha wish you had Sosa back.
   3.  I hear the Diamondbacks are bringing Bartman to the game for "old times' sake".
   2.  Neener, neener, neener.
   1.  Hey, it's okay, there's always next year!

Norman Rockwell Chicago Cubs Baseball Print THE DUGOUT

The Dugout by Norman Rockwell (also the way Cubs fan felt last night).

To end all this on a truly depressing note, I'd like to say thanks to Zach for reminding me of the Mighty Casey:

   "Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
    The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
    And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
    But there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out."

        -- Ernest Thayer, 1888

Not that any of this means anything at all to true Cubs' fans.  Nosiree Bob!  We are going to win the next two here in Chicago, then finish off the Diamondbacks in front of our transplanted Arizona fans.  Yeah, baby!
