Missing Boy Scout Found Alive
Thanks to Gandolf the search dog, missing twelve-year-old Boy Scout Michael Auberry was found, dehydrated and disoriented, but alive.
Searcher Misha Marshall said her dog Gandolf detected Michael¹s
scent and alerted rescuers. When they approached Michael, "he was a
little disoriented, but he¹s great," Marshall said.
"It took
him a minute to realize we were there for him," she said. Asked how
Michael reacted when he saw the rescuers, Marshall recalled Michael
saying, "I¹m hungry, give me some water, stuff like that."
"We have our missing Boy Scout," said a jubilant National Park Service spokeswoman Tina White.
Michael was found about 1½ miles from the campsite from which he disappeared, White said.
The radio communication from the search team that found Michael set off
a celebration among leaders of several Scout troops waiting for news
about the boy. "A lot of tears, a lot of hugs," White said, and members
of Michael's church joined hands to pray at the staging area.
And that, my friends, is the power of prayer!
