Live Out Loud

A blog dedicated to living life as loud as we can for Christ.

You're NOT going to like this....(Part 1)

What I have to say in this post is not going to be any fun, at all.  But it will be the truth.  I won't get many comments on this post or the next few.  What I have to say is what God has been teaching me for the last four years, and it's been a hard pill to swallow.  So, here goes.

You find it in advertising campaigns, political promises, egotistical, pampered athletes and big-headed performers.  From music to movies, we are bombarded with self-centered messages.  We hear that the world revolves around us and our needs.  We are all vunerable to this message, espcially young people.  I have come to learn from teaching today's youth, that they often expect parents, teachers, coaches, youth leaders, friends, and everyone else to be sensitive to their desires and schedules.  Are you kidding me?  Despite what the world tells us countless times daily, life is NOT about US.  WE are NOT the point.  The world does NOT revolve around YOUR desires or MY goals, and it was never meant to.

I am always telling my sons "Ptolomy, Capernicus, Gallileo all had a talk, and they agreed on ONE THING... that they are NOT the center of the universe".

I see it around me. People really don't give a crap about anyone else. As long as they get their piece, it's all good. It's very sad to see. Because parents that raise their children with a sense of entitlement, they are abusing that child. They are doing just as much harm to that child's psyche, their social development, as a physical beating hurts their body. But that's just my opinion.

I like this post... can't wait to read part 2!
