A Counting School - Hardcore Chartered Accountancy

SOA begins

To celebrate the start of the the School of Accountancy, here's an interesting thought: how much effort would you put into work which will not be submitted for marking?

Throughout elementary and high school - and even some university classes - teachers resort to all sorts of 'police' tactics to ensure that students do their homework, with varying degrees of success.

At the SOA, on the other hand, the only motivation to do the advance prep work is that there should be educational value to doing the work in advance should help you pass the exam that takes place on July 4.

From the responses that'll be heard in class throughout this week, it'll be interesting to see how many people did the detailed work, and how many never started. Or will some people just be brilliant enough to know the answers after just looking at answers for the first time?

It'll be a fun week.

As fun a week can be when it's devoted to taking a crash refresher course in tax, anyway.

As far as I can tell, not too many people did the questions in my group.  Everyone has the head down, hoping not to get called on!

Although to be fair, even if you have the question done, you might not feel like speaking up.

Once again, an exercise in taxation turns into a public speaking seminar. ;)
