Chat Room Updates
Friday, March 16, 2007 1:25 PM

Zach sent me an email the other day updating me on the Chat Room. Here is what it said:

Hey Treasure Hunter,

There are a bunch of new events going on in the Chat Room that I thought would be good for a blog post on the Games blog.

Every Wednesday and Friday, we have a game called Slogan Off which is a game where I give a slogan and anyone playing guesses what company or organization it belongs to.

Every day, I host the TV trivia game in the chat room. Right now, if anyone plays TV Trivia, they will be entered into a drawing for a Kodak Photo Mousepad. After there are more than 25 people in for the drawing, I will raffle it off. Anyone can enter as many times as they want.

A new thing that Jenneads and I are working on is a Mini- Gold Rush. It occurs every Friday evening and will ask many Gold Rush-like questions. I don’t have all the details, ask Jenneads if you have more questions.

I am also working on adding a few new games to the room such as Black Jack and a game called Acronym.

Of course, we always have Trivia running, just go in the room and type in !trivia.

Thanks again!!

Zach aka, TheDisher

If you don’t remember how to get into the chat room or need a link, you can go to this page for more information.

AOL Gold Rush 2 to be announced April 17th

AOL last week invited senior management of leading advertisers, big spenders on the Internet, media agency leaders and buyers of broadcast and digital ad space to its "First Look" event on April 17 in New York. The presentation is designed to preview the big events AOL is planning during 2007 and 2008.

As part of the presentation, AOL is expected to announce a second season of "Gold Rush," the Mark Burnett treasure hunt.

This is great news, but while we are waiting I would like everyone to consider spending time thinking about
What Kind of World do You Want?
What Kind of World do You Want?

What kind of World do You want? Think Anything. Let’s start at the start, build a masterpiece. Be careful what you wish for, History starts now…

The band Five for Fighting released a new single to attack the top 40 charts called “World.” It is a great song and really got me thinking.

Should there be people or peoples
Money, Funny pedestals for Fools who never pay
Raise your Army - Choose your Steeple
Don't be shy, the satellites can look the other way

Yes, even the Steeple is mentioned in the song. So shouldn’t we do something? Along with the song, a website was created called “www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com.” The website has many videos submitted by ordinary people who have ideas on how to change the world.

I heard about this website on Friday afternoon and I watched all the videos on the site at the time.

The world is in our hands. What can we do? We are working together to put together a video from everyone here to submit to the site. We will also have to pick a charity.

I am working on getting more detail, but I think the charity we pick gets the money raised by the hits on our video.

If you have a minute or two, put in the comments What kind of World you want and we will work on the video that will be posted here and on whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com as well.

If you have a video, you can email it to me at sm.TheDish@gmail.com and we will add it as well.

This community is quite special and I enjoy keeping things up and running.  We are still looking forward to Gold Rush 2 and hopefully we will find some games in between.  Thanks for hanging around and making Steeple Media a fun place to be on a daily basis.  Also we may be getting into a new video contest as a community.  Zach will be providing more details but in the mean time you can find out more from the following website http://www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com/

To All Of My Fellow Steeple People,

I want to thank everyone for your participation in this site.  You guys and gals are what make this site enjoyable for visitors and long time members alike.  As the title suggests this post is to ask for donations to help keep this site running.  This is a good thing!  You folks have created so much content that our database (the thing that stores all of the comments and posts) has exceeded 1000 MB which was my limit.  I am going to have to pay a one time fee of $100 to my hosting company to keep the site up and running and increase my disk space.

You all know that I hate to ask for money and I will put up whatever money I need to in order to keep the site running.  But, I am asking for 10 people to donate $10 to SteepleMedia.com in order to cover the cost for this increase in disk space.  I am not sure how long the increased disk space will last since the site continues to grow.  Did you know we have been topping 500 visitors a day for the past week?  That is awesome!

I hope that you will continue to stay around and enjoy the site.  Please know that I only want you to donate if you feel inclined to do so.  I do not want anybody to be pressured to donate by this note or by any other user on the site.  As soon as I receive the 10 donations I will make another note on the site to inform you that our goal has been reached.

Thanks again to everybody who participates and makes this possible.  I love you all!  If you have any questions comments or concerns you can contact me at webmaster@steeplemedia.com

Oh yea, the link to donate is right here. Thanks! I will also give you a link to a website of your choice in an upcoming blog post if you so choose.

Warm Regards,
Treasure Hunter / Webmaster / You Know My Name

Update: Thanks to all of the Steeple Friends who donated!  We have enough to pay for the additional disk space!!!
