Another day, another portable media player comes along that tries to unseat the iPod range (iPod classic and iPod touch) as the portable media player of choice, but this time round the Onda VX520 fails to do just that. Not that it isn’t of any good for that matter – no sir, after all, it supports 720p videos albeit coming with a rather tiny 3″ LCD display. On the other hand, you can always hook it up to your HDTV via its HDMI out port for a high definition experience wherever you go. No idea on pricing, but it does support a wide range of video files including RMVB, AVI, DAT, FLV, MOV and MKV.

Which is the smallest MP3 player that you’ve come across? Most people would say the iPod shuffle, while others will rememeber of the MobiBLU Cube fondly. Well, the Micro Sport Japanese MP3 Player clearly lives up to its name, redefining the word “tiny” and bringing it to new heights (or should we say, size?) The Micro Sport Player is two sugar cubes worth of electronics into which somehow is crammed 4GB of memory and a rechargeable battery. Amazingly this tiny player features full stereo sound. One earbud is attached directly to the side of the main unit, while the other earbud trails on a cord around the back of your head, just reaching the opposite ear. Loading music is incredibly easy. Simply plug the Micro Sport into the USB port of your computer. It mounts like a USB thumb drive, and you simply copy over any MP3 files you want to play. ThinkGeek is carrying it for $89.99 – pretty hefty price considering the paltry amount of storage space that you get, but at least you know your money...

The slotRadio is a simple device that comes ready to use with a microSD preloaded with 1,000 of hits selected from the Billboard charts themselves. The user can use from genres of Rock, Alternative, Country, R &B/Hip Hop, Contemporary, as well as Workout and Chillout. If you don’t like any of the preloaded tunes, then you can just connect it to your computer and load up the tunes that you do like with drag and drop. So if you want an MP3 player, and don’t want to deal with the hassles of loading, or messing with iTunes, then you don’t have to. In short, this might be the perfect Portable Media Player (PMP) for those who are not in the iGeneration. That’s right, your mother or even your grandmother could use the SlotRadio. This is the best part of the SanDisk SlotRadio: from out of the box, a new user can instantly immerse him or herself in a world of music. If he or she does not like what is currently playing, the user may cut to the next track, or to another genre. It even has a built...

Being green while listening to your iPod aren’t two states of being that you would naturally think relate to each other. Even if you listen to lots of Jack Johnson. Well now you can feel good about being a touch anti-social with your MP3 player. The Eco-Media Player will pump out your beats without using electricity. How you do power Kid Rock then you ask? The energy comes from you. Literally. The Eco-Media Player will work after you’ve wound it up. Like a really old alarm clock. It’s not a gadget that’s going back in time though, it’s actually an attempt to take us forward in the world with minimal impact on the environment. You don’t have to stand there whirring away for ages to listen to one track. One minute of winding action will provide you with up to 45 minutes of playback. So fortunately - or unfortunately- you won’t end up with the bicep of Arnie anytime soon from this. Just because it is first and foremost an eco-gadget, doesn’t mean that it’s therefore lacking in other features...
