Do you still deal with a landline back at home, or have you moved on to the wireless lifestyle with nothing but cellphones in your home to receive calls from other people? VTech is certainly an old hand where landline phones are concerned, and they have now announced their first two-line phone with DECT 6.0 technology for homes across America. The DS6151 is touted to be the most affordable system of its kind at just $79.95, where it will be ideal for small and growing businesses as well as busy households. Learn more about the VTech DS6151 in the extended post. Based on DECT 6.0 technology, the feature-rich and expandable VTech DS6151 will boast superior sound quality, range and interference-free calls. gadget. Nokia X6
08 September 09 10:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
Nokia’s recently announced handset, the Nokia X6, looks set to take over the XpressMusic line by offering you up to 35 hours of continuous music playback before requiring a trip to the nearest power outlet. In addition, the 32GB of internal memory alongside a memory expansion slot clearly places this on par with the iPhone when it comes to being a portable audio player, barring the user experience, of course. It does claw some ground by including a slick 3.2″ finger touch interface though, boasting a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio that is optimized for photos, videos and browsing. You can also connect to the Ovi Store directly, letting you remain connected to a maximum of 20 friends and virtual communities always through your homescreen. The Nokia X6 will retail for 450 Euros (why don't they ever give me American dollar amounts?) before taxes and subsidies, as the Finnish cellphone manufacturer prepares to get it ready for shipping come Q4 2009.

gadget.Bluetooth Phone Concept, finger phone
08 September 09 08:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
For those of you who are sick of the convenience of Bluetooth earpieces and want to live your dream of talking to your fingers like pretend phone from your childhood should look into this concept device. Designed by BCK, a team from Argentina, its a very simple concept. The user talks to the hand using the yellow ring that fits halfway down the little finger, and then listens with the pink ring on the thumb. This is one concept that probably won’t catch on, ever. Unless you can make a display to put on the palm. Maybe there is some alternate reality where this technology came into fruition. Well, you never know what’s going to be a hit and what will be a dud.

25 August 09 08:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
Solar chargers are thankfully getting smaller and smaller, which is good for those of us that prefer to use renewable energy every chance we get. It’s also great for those that just would like to have a small solar charger in case of an emergency. This one is plenty small enough that it could even easily fit into your pocket. It’s ideal for all of your smaller gadgets to give you a charge when you’re in dire need of one. Something like this would not only be great to have around, but having a spare one to keep in your car just in case of emergencies would be great too. You can charge up cellphones, MP3 players and digital cameras. This small Sun Drive is actually only 64mm by 25.8mm. On a full charge it’ll give your phone up to 100 minutes of continuous talk time and up to 25 hours of standby time on a single charge. The solar panel isn’t out just yet and there’s no real price right now. When it does come out though, it looks like it’s at least initially going to only be hitting the South...

gadget.Motorola Evoke QA4
31 March 09 10:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
Motorola might be in the doldrums at the moment as each step they take does not seem to result in phenomenal sales of sorts, which can get rather depressing when you think about it. After all, they seem to have fallen into being a victim of their own success, where everything else after the RAZR just failed to capture the imagination of the masses, leading to the quandary where they’re at today. Still, it is nice to see them not throwing in the towel just yet, as it will be a sad day when Motorola is no longer part of the cell phone industry - somewhat like how most people would’ve felt when Sega pulled out of the home console race with the Dreamcast being its last foray. This time round, we have the Motorola Evoke QA4 that was announced officially, so let’s take a look at what it offers in greater detail right after the jump. First of all, the Motorola Evoke QA4 is but a socially-inclined device that comes with a 2.8″ full touch screen display to make navigation and usage a snap. A wide...

Folks living in the US who have long looked forward to the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset will be pleased to know that it has finally arrived Stateside after being released in other regions of the world earlier. This looks set to be a feature packed phone without breaking the bank, and potentially offers a high rate where bang for your buck is concerned. The 5800 XpressMusic allows you to tote around a stylish yet affordable music device that boasts a touch screen interface that will appeal to the mass market. More details on this seemingly invincible music phone right after the jump. First of all, Nokia has ensured that its 5800 XpressMusic covers all bases to satisfy the cravings of more serious than casual music listeners, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB internal memory that can store up to 6,000 tracks on average, support for all main digital music formats and a 3.5mm jack. We heave a collective sigh of relief as Nokia included the 3.5mm jack since that would mean we don’t have...

gadget.Could the iPhone go to Verizon?
26 February 09 10:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
Apple’s very lucrative fee sharing arrangement with AT&T over iPhone fees may be coming to an end in favor of a new carrier … Verizon Wireless. If Apple’s interim CEO Tim Cook considers what to do with the current carrier arrangement over the iPhone, rumors are flying that Verizon wireless may be courting Cupertino for a similar exclusive arrangement for Apple customer loyalty. But most tech reporters agree that changing one deal with the devil for another is just as bad and Apple should consider tossing iPhone use wide open for all carriers, and customers to enjoy. The initial arrangement with AT&T for subsidizing the cost of the iPhone was supposed to be for 5 years. In the course of such an arrangement, Apple has enjoyed a very lucrative profit sharing position as provider of what many call “the Jesus Phone.” But it seems that support for sticking with AT&T seems to be waining in the hallowed halls of Apple and considering that Verizon has been nipping at Apple’s heels since...

gadget.LG GD900 See-through Phone
18 February 09 09:00 AM | Zach | with no comments
LG has recently unveiled the LG GD900, a concept phone that is transparent. This see-through phone debuted at the GSMA World Congress, and is not as invisible as the publicists says it is. The screen is not transparent, because I’m assuming we couldn’t do that, even with a giant-sized screen. Yes, the technology may not be there for the transparent screen, but it is for the invisible keypad. In fact, I’m told that the keypad will glow in the dark. Beyond that, we don’t really have much information on this product, except that it has two cameras, one on the front and one on the back. Also, LG plans to market an “accompanying Bluetooth headset”, but I don’t know if that would be transparent. I hope it is, because I am looking forward to the age of transparent phones. Could this be the new aesthetic for mobile technology? If so, then let’s make some transparent MP3 players, or GPS devices. Anything else you want done over with a transparent makeover? Chime in with a comment if you do. Full...

gadget.Samsung W7900 projector phone
16 February 09 12:00 PM | Zach | with no comments
The next evolutionary step in cell phones will probably be the inclusion of projectors in them, after all, you can only bump up the megapixel count in a camera phone by so much. They can’t really place in the relevant sensors and lenses that will be a camera phone function on par with a regular dedicated digital camera unless the technology is miniaturized to such a degree, but at least there is another path to take - by throwing in a digital projector. The latest collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Texas Instruments has led to one of the more impressive projector phones in the market to date - the Samsung I7410 (for those in the European market), also known as the W7900 for folks living in Korea. The W7900 is equipped with the Texas Instruments DLP Pico Chipset that helps provide a providing “big picture” viewing experience when you’re on-the-go. The Samsung W7900 is able to throw content with a wide range of image sizes that are way larger than standard phone displays, and...
