Gold Rush - Bonus Round Finalists

We had 1.5 / 3 finalists in the bonus round of Gold Rush, to see their faces, and the "other" click here.  Apparently, I did something wrong and just found out about it, since one of the finalists, who will remain nameless, apparently got upset with me (or you), and publicly trashed Steeple Media (hence the .5).

Where's the love?  I tried my best to make a "warm" and "cozy" place for everyone to come have a good time and enjoy the game.  Apparently I missed the mark somewhere since it seems we have some people who feel like outcasts.  Sorry to those of you who feel like outsiders, please let me know what I can do to help and I will take a course of action.

Normally I don't sponsor videos (I leave that up to krupo), but this one was just to funny.  Click Here to Watch.

gdesignr said: Steeps - speaking of voting... while I wasn't a finalist in the Gold Rush, I am a finalist in the Jeep "Free Your Thoughts" contest!  This is really exciting for me, and I am hoping you can help out.  Please take a minute to vote for my video entry on their website:
http://www.freeyourthoughts.com/gallery.aspx?id=14

My video is "Directions - Michael Schlecht - GA", and is a play on the word "Compass", spinning through images of the country, city, beach, and mountains, while asking North? South? East? West?...   I'm really proud of how it turned out. The finalist with the most votes wins a Jeep Compass, so please vote every day if you can.  Thanks!

Steep, you have created a great "web family" here, & most of the time it's all hugs & kisses. Like all families there's going to be some strife, hopefully, we all survive it, get over it, & forgive. I was in chat the day "m" got upset, it was all a misunderstanding. Someone had asked who were some names that were not recognized, & someone else, I think as a joke said "LURKERS", & that's how it started. Hey "m", no one meant to disrespect you, in fact, some of the steeps in chat defended you, said that you had participated in the chat before.

I just think it is sad that she was so bothered she felt she had to trash a community she had been a part of.  I guess we hit a nerve and she just wasn't hearing anything after that.  Too bad.

In my opinion I think a public apology would be nice from Steeplemedia and the steep peeps.

I was surprised to see the negative comments as well, of course I wasn't in the chat room the day this girl got upset.  This is an awesome online community and people made me feel welcome in the chat even way back before I figured out how to join the forums. (I even got a trout slapping or two :) )

I have been playing along with the steeps via the chat since the very beginning but I was new to the "blog" thing and didn't sign on here until the end of September so I missed out on joining up with one of the teams.  When GR2 comes around, I hope to get on a team too, so keep me in mind ;)

My bad, Steep, my bad.  I was the one who asked who she and another person was.  No accusations, mind you, I just didn't recognize their names from a post on the blogs.  I didn't think that asking "who is so and so" amounted to an indictment of anyone.  And, rather than saying "it's me", the individual chose to wait nearly half an hour and then totally blast everyone on steeple and left in a huff.  There was never anything negative implied or intended.  I am sorry she misunderstood, and I'm sorry she never bothered to just answer a simple question.  No harm or slight was intended.  I honestly didn't recognize her name and wondered who she was.  That was all.  If it offended her, I'm sorry that happened.  It was never my intent.  I'm not that kind of person, and she would have found that out if she had just taken a moment to respond to a simple question.

Scout don't worry about it girl, you have nothing to apologize for.  I was there that day and you didn't do anything wrong.  She may have been in a bad mood and took things out of context, who knows.

agres10245, a public apology is due but not from Steeplemedia or the steeple peeps, it's from 'm'!!

tcrowe is a cool dude. lol.  you are too TH.  don't be discouraged by stuff like this because its bound to happen from time to time.  I wasn't even in there when everything apparently went down, but I wouldn't apologize, not after the way they decided to handle it.  It might be harsh, but theres about 3,000 or so other members that wouldn't do that to ya.  so keep that in mind.  On a brighter note, I GOT SOME TSHIRTSSSSSSS. lol ok bye.

I'll also admit that I was slow to become a member, but when I did, I offered as much help as I could, when I could. I greatly appreciate all the solutions that the various other members gave for the different challenges, and I especially appreciate the dedication of the Steeple Media group for putting this together for all of us to share and enjoy.

That being said - I can't wait for GR2, and, hopefully, my own taste of gold!

TH, this could not have been a more supportive or generous site.  It literally got me to the finals.

As for agres -- I notice that you posted on GR that although you weren't involved you apologized to Melissa, and here, you called for a public Steep apology.  In general, if it is something in which you were not involved, you should probably stay out of it.  I was there, and Melissa was rude and insulting to a site which had been enormously helpful to her.  I, too, am sorry if she misunderstood the situation, but the fact that she went on to harrangue both Steeple and other finalists in a public forum, without allowing for a more private dialogue, opens her actions up to public scrutiny and criticism.  And the fact that you automatically (and publicly) take sides against Steeple without having been involved makes me question your agenda within this community as well.  I now also believe that a number of apologies are due, but certainly not from the maligned Steep community.  I would like to hear one from Melissa, then I would like to hear from you.

Shoot, I know I should not get in the middle of this, but I consider agres my friend, and unfortunately she had the same kind of experience in the IRC room.  I never have, I love talking to you guys, and I am glad I am here.  Stuff happens, guys, we are, after all, only human.  But I do understand what it feels like to be on the receiving end of negative energy.  It hurts.  Especially when you are young.  Family forgives and forgets and moves on.  I hope we can too.

Should you apologize????

example :

Acts 23:1-5.

Acts 23:6-10.

Words of apology can help us to make peace.

"Matthew 5:23, 24.

The issue is, not so much who is right and who is wrong, but who will take the initiative to make peace.

I had never even been on a blog or forum before but this was a pleasent experience for me. I came in late to this site but you helped me alot with your chats and with the tatoos. That was my downfall. You guys are soooo fast. I was never that close to even being in the top 100, but I enjoyed the challenge. You are all a very friendly group and nice people.

Thanks for everything

Congrats Angie!  Way to go!  You made the peeps at Steep very proud!

Thanks for the Jehovah's Watchtower site, Agres.  I absolutely agree with the sentiment.  My quote is a little more secular:

"After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done."  ~Author Unknown

Or, a great Maya Angelou quote that seems appropriate:

“Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.”

Actually, you had 2.5 Steeps in the Bonus Round (by your counting :)).  I was a definite lurker thru most of the game, because I was always at work during the Gold challenges.  I never bothered to sign up since I was always answering stuff hours/days later.  I did come and get the answers I couldn't figure out (or couldn't watch because it had already aired by the time I got home!)... for that I thank you all!  Enough of those celeb tattoos!

I did sign up the day before the Bonus Round, thinking I could actually participate in the chat proceedings.  As you know, the Bonus Round online game was over in a HURRY, so I never even looked at the chat list until I was done, and I did sit in the room and chat and help others once the game restarted after the crash.

Oh well, no $50K for me!  For my personal pop culture knowledge, that was the WORST game they could have devised. :)  I was happy to get one.

I used to be a lurker on this site back during the Treasure Hunters show games. At first I thought it was crazy that people were giving away the answers, but I soon began to realize that it made the games alot more fun, and improved everyones chances within this group to win.  Don't be too hard on the lurkers, as chances are they'll join up and help out soon enough.

Here's another small Hunt contest I just found.  It's for those people that own the DaVinci Code DVD.  You answer "codes" based on things you have to find in the movie. I'm wondering if this group couldn't guess the answers even without the DVD.  All correct answers are entries into a random drawing.  One prize is a trip to Paris, but it seems a little overvalued, so you'd have to pay alot in taxes. The other big prize is a trip to one of several cities in Europe, that is more reasonably valued, plus there are smaller prizes that are decent.

Lurkers of the world unite! LOL, I think most of us have been lurkers at some point in Gold Rush, in particular, slow people like me. In 13 rounds, I didn't get the answer first even once. My gold buddy cecile got the Johnny Cash answer & I posted in chat, it came up at the same time, but on the next line after someone else posted it. I then put my answer in Gold Rush, & I was #192 on the steeple list, we have some really fast typers! The whole "Steeple" experience has been a blast for me, so thank you TH, & thanks to all the steeps, this is a great site.
