ET Gold Rush And Elections - Dissapointments

The only positive thing about watching Gold Rush on ET was that I only had to hear 1 second of "KFED", which was 1 second more than I wanted to hear after watching his less than pitiful performance in the full webisode.  AOL executives will probably still ponder why nobody watched the remaining Gold Rush clips on ET.  Well AOL finally updated the road to gold with pictures of all 6 finalists, but they still don't have interviews with the remaining 3 finalists from round 13.  Thanks for being right on top of things of AOL!

I guess I wouldn't be doing my duty to my country if I didn't talk about the elections.  I should repeat what every American in a position of leadership should say, namely, "Make your vote count" or "If you don't vote, you can't complain", but I think that is a dump truck full of hogwash.

Now I am not speaking of amendments, please go chalk up your vote for those, rather, I am referring to the process of electing officials.  Your vote doesn't matter when electing officials because in most cases you don't even like the person you are voting for.  The only reason you are voting for them is because you don't want to cast a vote for "the other guy/gal".

Further, even if you do like the person you are voting for, it makes no difference because they aren't going to do anything they promised they would do for you (unless your a wealthy business owner) once they get to DC.  Suppose, though for a moment, that they actually did want to help you and support your rights through new legislation.  The bill they might propose would never make it through congress, and if it did by some stretch of the imagination make it through congress/senate, it would more than likely be unrecognizable if compared with the original proposed bill.

It seems to me there is a bit of a problem with the current state of politics in the US.  Only the elite wealthy have a chance at running for an office and once they get in office the only thing on their mind is personal gain, specifically in the areas of power, wealth, and sexual activity.

So what?  We need to reform our system before it becomes completely corrupt.  How?  I'm glad you asked.

We need to keep our elected officials accountable on a daily basis.  Each official should have a public calender that can be viewed online.  They must account for what sessions they attended and what bills/amendments they voted for or against.  They need to be held accountable for all of their expenses, which should also be publicly accounted for.  If they don't have anything to hide, what does it matter.  This is the information age!  We deserve first hand information on what our congress people and senators are doing while they are in Washington.

Go vote for those amendments.

Steeps - speaking of voting... while I wasn't a finalist in the Gold Rush, I am a finalist in the Jeep "Free Your Thoughts" contest!  This is really exciting for me, and I am hoping you can help out.  Please take a minute to vote for my video entry on their website:
http://www.freeyourthoughts.com/gallery.aspx?id=14
My video is "Directions - Michael Schlecht - GA", and is a play on the word "Compass", spinning through images of the country, city, beach, and mountains, while asking North? South? East? West?...   I'm really proud of how it turned out. The finalist with the most votes wins a Jeep Compass, so please vote every day if you can.  Thanks!

ET - Watch tonight

Tonight starts the first round of competition for our Steeple Finalist.  Jobe should be on National Television tonight and we wish him the best of luck, knowing that wishing him luck right now is futile since the tape was filmed last week.  Good Luck Jobe!

I updated my last post and added a few more finalists and pictures.  We still need to account for all of our Gold Coin winners, which may be difficult to do at this point.  But, moving on to other things,  It seems that Gold Rush Central has asked us to provide them with feedback about Gold Rush I.

If you want to have a voice in what GR II looks like you need to speak up in the comments to this post.   Specifically, the GR team would like to know what we think about the first GR, what we're thinking about GR II and how we think they could improve things.  They also want to know what we liked, what we didn't and what we would like to see in GR II.  A minor note, we don't need to discuss any of the technical issues as they have been made well aware of them.

I know we have talked about improvements in prior posts, but this is the official post that will be mailed in to the GR folks.  If you have a suggestion that you want passed along, make it here.

No News Is Good News (unless your expecting a call from Marden Kane)

I don't have anything new to report from Gold Rush central.  But I thought maybe some of you would stop by and wonder what to do with all of your spare time now that GR is over.  It is a little early to start planning for Gold Rush II, so instead you might think about creating a wee mee.

I know many of you have already created one, but I thought it might be fun to share them.  I created this one for myself.

Also, if you weren't here for GDVCQ, you may have missed out on the Google Puzzles module which has new riddles and the likes from world puzzle champ Wie Huang.  They are fun to play and some are quite challenging.  You can find out more by visiting his website.

I was just browsing around Amazon and found this Gold Razor.  I guess we aren't the only one's with gold on our minds.

It's All Over Now

UPDATE:  Go vote for Jobe on aol.com/goldrush!!!

If you didn't make it yesterday to the finals, then you are with me.  I'm still here at my desk.  But, good news, AOL finally posted all of the Top 100's.  It looks like we dominated the field with our group problem solving skills and useless pop culture knowledge.  AOL also posted the road to gold.  Congratulations to everyone who won a coin or becamem a finalist and thanks to those of you who made donations yesterday.

If you didn't win this time, look forward to AGR2 which should come out in the beginning of next year.

The two new important links from Gold Rush for today are the Hall Of Fame (Top 100 listings)  and the Road to Gold.  Also check our forums to claim your name in the Top 100.

Also, all three finalist rounds will be aired on T.V.  Watch ET November 6th for the first episode.  We have a total of 10 finalist competing for 1 million dollars.
